Nice score Paul!, and nice strip job HD! I liked the ribs on the standard FBM
The ribs actually have a purpose, I found out. They increase strength while reducing weight and help reduce sticking friction on the blade surface while chopping or slicing. I just though they looked cool.

Cool pic HD! I like the look of the ribs too!

+2 I like the ribs too. Thanks for the info. I learn something new everyday. I wondered if there was a practical reason for the ribs or was it just fluff. Now I know thanks HD for the nugget of wisdom!

I didn't know about it until Dan mentioned it. I just thought they were for style when I bought the knife. And you know, we are all more influenced by looks than most of us will admit.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I am confused. Both the FBM and DF are listed at 10". Pictures do not lie. What is the real scope?

My Dog Father is 15" overall with a 10" blade that is 1 13/16" wide. My FBM is 16" long with a 10" blade that is 2" wide at its widest point. My Fat FBM is 16" long with a 10" blade that is 2 1/8" wide at its widest point. Hope that helps. I just measured them. Sometimes pictures do make them look different lengths, but those are the facts.

Actually the pictures do lie, though not intentionally. Depending on the lens in the camera and how close the objects are to be photographed you can see stretching distortion on the near objects, i.e. the wide angle lens effect.

With my cheesy camera I have to be careful to phoograph from above the knives so they are the same distance to the lens. With one knife in the foreground and one in the background, the background knife always looks smaller when they are the same physical length.

I'm sure Ted can explain this better than I did. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
