So I'm gathering that the SR77 is better applied to a large "chopper" AKA the Dog Father. When you see these other Bowie style blades made from VG10, CPM3V, I'm not sure if they do larger blades in a CPMS30V or not, but the SR77 performs better in the larger knives than the other mentioned steels?
From what I have read, the CPM3V has better abrassion resistance than SR77 (or edge holding ability)but the SR77 is tougher than the CPM3V (or more shock absorbing)is this an accurate assessment?

Forgot to mention, that the SR77 would nine times out of ten have better lateral strength...having the ability to hold a 45 degree to 90 degree angle a still return to true and not snap. I dont know if the previously mentioned steels could take such abuse and still come out smelling like roses

Large or small it does it all. INFI is the only steel to out perform it. As far as corrosion is concerned, we coat the blade and tang, so there is coating from end to end, so even the steel under the handle is protected against corrosion. Only the ground edge is exposed and you maintain that with a simple oiling or stopping. Dan

Dan After viewing the Dog Father testing you guys did, I can certaintly believe that (love my Yard Hook ), and the price to performance ratio is right on! other manufacturers may claim to be able to hang with a SYK...but they probably cant touch the price to performance ratio that SYKW has established. Cant wait till you release the DF LE or even the coated version for that matter. I have a thing for big blades

I have never treated a blade like Dan encourages us to before I owned a scrapyard. The first time I chopped with my DF i cringed as I had seen blades fail in lighter use.
My scrap yard blades are the first I reach for when serious work is to be done and my DM is trusted with my wellbeing and the wellbeing in others as my primary survival blade. It takes a tool that can handle the extreme end of "creative" use in emergency situations to hold that spot.
JYD#10 Blade '08 - I challenge coined Dan Busse and WON! Blade '10 - The score is now 2-0!

true, it does set a performance price ratio. i would love a stainless scrapyard knife though, i worked as a farm hand for many years and camped for multiple weeks in a row. all that time out side has rusted many blades. i would definetly take a scrap yard blade with me accompanied by a stainless small blade
