I have never treated a blade like Dan encourages us to before I owned a scrapyard. The first time I chopped with my DF i cringed as I had seen blades fail in lighter use.

My scrap yard blades are the first I reach for when serious work is to be done and my DM is trusted with my wellbeing and the wellbeing in others as my primary survival blade. It takes a tool that can handle the extreme end of "creative" use in emergency situations to hold that spot.
