I love S7... I wonder if anyone remembers what site showed this test -- it is a sword manufacturer who uses S7, i think it is called Angelsword or something?
Is this what you're looking for?

http://www.angelsword.com/steel_toughness.php

Yes!! I knew someone would be able to find it... If you go to that link and click on videos, that's the ones i was thinking of. it actually bends farther than i remembered, in the neighborhood of 270 degrees -- a very respectable neighborhood, to say the least...

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

Thanks Dan, I hope if I do order the bowie I get a sharp one- the prospect of trying to sort out that monster would put me off ordering it...

I watched that Angel sword video- wow those blades are bendy! If Dans survive even half of that they are awesome value for money. The Angel prices show how good Dan's are too I guess!

It can work very well, but it really gets through paper quickly. I think someone suggested wetting the 'wet and dry' to slow the abrasion down. I haven't tried it yet but that S4 is nearby..

I use the wet/dry paper and I usually wet the stuff. It does slow the abrassion down, at least in my experience.

peace

Yeah, I got tired of the cost, clogging, and how quick they wore out. So I switched to stone and ceramic. It's easy to clean a dirty stone with a scotch brite pad, and ceramic you can clean with a pencil eraser. I think stones are quicker too to sharpen with, because you can quickly clean them and they won’t get clogged like sandpaper. Clogs=less abrasion=longer sharpening time. And stones change the edge from convex to V, but I haven’t had any problems with a V edge, and my V edges are thinner than the factory convex edges.

Andy, you need a picture of you holding a stone in one hand and a dead squirell in the other!
