Just wonder if the Yard will ever have options of the knives? Maybe blade and/or handel coloring. Maybe even different types of handels.

Its been brought up before - and Dan said "not likely" or something to that effect. Some of us were hoping for tan or green handles or blades - but not likely. I know that Dan essentially said "no" to Micarta due to the cost of finishing it.

We can still hope that someday he'll do something different on an LE though!

He said he makes things that he would like or would have liked before. Like good, hard use blades that function the way "The steel gods intented!" No fancy colors, no exotic materials, keeping the price down and something wonderful all of us can afford and appreciate... I thank him for that

I agree, I usually buy a knife for what it can do rather then how it looks. Luckily I usually like the looks of these hard use knives.
Keep the quality up and the price down.

Gosh I hope not.
Basic black looks great ,goes with everything and keeps the price down.
It is not like there is not lots of Swamprat and Busse knives for people who want them.

One option I could see is magnum handles. I would expect an entire run would be made with bigger grips. I like the current Resc grips but I have small hands.
I would guess those of you with big mitts have a hard time with the DF and especially the Mutt.

Exactly. If you want the options (and the cost that goes with them) just look at SR and BC.

You can have any color you want. As long as it is black!

As said above, the color isn't relevant to performance. Creating a multi color line up causes additional problems for the ordering system and shipping the orders out which would translate to higher costs!

Blade '08 - I challenge coined Dan Busse and WON!
Blade '10 - The score is now 2-0!

The whole point of Scrapyard Knives is a good knive at a great price. In order to keep the prices low Dan must limit the options he provides his customers. The more options available the more the price.

If Dan were to give us options like Busse does then Dan in essence would be competing against his brother. Setting up scrapyard knives like he did allows Dan to gain some of the reputation of Busse and Swamprat yet remain independent and not compete directly against them.

I would never say never on some options. It all depends on what I can find in the dumpster.

Micarata is still a no due to cost considerations.
