I am trying to get back into this after trying it as a kid. I am looking for the name of the tool that you use to groove the leather that the stitches go into. I never did this as a kid but it sure makes things look more finished. I can't seem to locate it at Tandy. Anyone know thew name or where I can buy one? thanks

What your wanting is called a Stitching Groover, it has an L shaped blade that is adjustable for however far from the edge you want to put the stitches. Tandy normally carries these in two types, one that is adjustable via a small screwdriver and the other is adjustable via a knurled wheel. The latter is a larger tool that makes a larger groove, its called the Saddlers Groover. I have both, and like the Saddlers Groover a little better as its easily adjusted by hand.

Leatherbro has it right ( I am still prettier though!)

007-Thanks I have one of those too but thats not what I wanted

Leatherdog and Leatherface-You guys got what I wanted. What keeps that from cutting too deep. I thought there would be some kind of depth gauge as opposed to gauge from edge? The picture threw me, I coulda sworn I saw one on a straight handle with no edge gauge. Thanks though
