All I want to say, as I stand here surrounded by boxes completely unable to find anything, is that moving sucks donkey balls.

That is all.

Did you number the boxes. Did you record the contents of each box on paper and enter it into a database on your computer and attach the paper to the side of the box.

If not then yes it sucks...;) LOL

JYD#14 Do you need one, of course you do it's a knife and you like knives.....

I only moved about 15 minutes down the road from the old place, but I've been travelling for work so much that I have barely had time to get my workshop set up and some of the boxes emptied. It's actually quite depressing coming home and staring at the mountain of brown. Making some good headway today though which is pretty good.

Heading back out on the road again tomorrow for a week, so I have to make as big a dent as I can here today. Funny how I keep gravitating back to the laptop to see what all y'alls are up to.

If it is any consolation, I still find "stuff" that my late wife packed up when we moved here from the City in 2000. Never did find my Viet Nam pics. Just as well. You'll get over it in a decade or two.

When I was 19 I went to college w/ nothing but my motorcycle and a backpack. It was a lot easier back then!

Best of luck to you, I hope you're able to find everything... did you mark the boxes?

The boxes have some markings that seem less descriptive than when I was writing them. "Desk stuff" "Knives and flashlights and stuff" etc. And of course things I need like the shelf brackets are hiding.

Sigh.

It's getting there though. I remember my college days when I was moving every 6 months it seemed and everything I owned fit in the back of my little toyota. This time it took 2 trips with the 5-ton to get it all. And I have downsized from a house to a suite so the goodwill box keeps getting fuller.

When I got out of the Army, and my "transportation" showed up, I had a heck of a time sorting everything out. The Korean moving company (where I was stationed) labeled my boxes somewhat - I think I had 75 big boxes or so - we stayed w/ my parents for about 2 months before I went back to college - and trying to find the things that we "needed" was a nightmare! I hope things are going well for ya though, looking forward to talking to you more when its all finished!

Yep!! Moving sucks!!

My friends told me 15 years ago when I moved to my present house, that If I decided to move again and called them for help, they'ed come burn my house down.

So I haven't moved again. When I and if I do move again, I might be tempted to do that myself.
