What are the coins made from? Just curious <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> They are made of an antique silver alloy that are die struck not die cast. Die struck coins are created by designing two sides of the mold from solid steel. Then the mold sides close together essentially "stamping" the design into the raw metal surface. This is a more expensive process than casting. Die casted coins can actually break if you drop them because of tiny air pockets in the metal as a result of melting and pouring the metal it into molds. I had them coated with an epoxy to insure good looks for a long time. As with all things from ScrapYard it's all about performance to price ratio...even our challenge coins Dan

That's awesome that you took so much time to investigate and understand the coins Dan. It was quite an education. It took better than a month to figure out what the right thing was to do and it took another 3 months to have them produced. I think you guys are going to really appreciate the quality Dan

They sound like top notch coins Dan! I have quite a few from the Army - and you can definitely tell which ones are quality and which ones aren't - and it sounds like you've gotten us excellent coins. Thanks again!
