This is a special knife the Swamp did for a unit of canadian combat engineers.
It is also one of the prettier Rats in my opinion with a very cool camo finish.
I would give my pinky for one but the guys are not likely to give them up anytime
soon.

That's a sweet blade. I'd love to know the specs on the thing.

That's a Desert Jack variation. You can find Desert Jack on the exchange occasionally but they are somewhat pricy.

From the Swamp Shack:

Desert Jack - Released 2005

These are part of a small military overrun and will only be available for a very short time. . . Sheath is not included. The Desert Jack has an overall length of 11.5” and features a 6” blade of 3/16” thick differentially hardened SR-101. The handle is Tan Canvas Micarta. These were released just prior to the opening of the Company Store.

Very nice. I am becoming a Swamp Rat fan. They are tough as Scrap Yards, cheaper than Busse Combats, and have those pretty micarta handles. It is wise of Busse Knife Group to have the three brands. Too bad there are only 11 of those Rats around. That camo looks great.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

That is one mighty fine hunk of steel!!!

I don't know what to think of the sheath though, looks very interesting. I wonder if the pouch is designed to hold anything in particular?

Is it a Desert Jack or a Ratwiler?
I only ask because in his little writeup Unsub mentions the Ratwiler, but never Desert Jack. Also the Mil-dot fellow who suplyed the pictures said, "Our SSM had a beef with the size so some of the boys weren't able to carry them on there person for the full tour." Beef with size would be unlikey with a 11.5" knife, as apposed to the Ratwiler that is 7.5" blade and 13" overall.
If you go to this sight you can see the big differences between the Desert Jack and the Ratwiler. http://www.swampshack.com/
I am not trying to step on toes or argue with anyone, but I am 99.9% sure it is a Ratwiler. And I love that sheath with kydex insert and zippered pouch.

Looks like a Desert Jack to me James but you could be right...it might be a Ratweiler. Ratweiler is a 7.5" blade versus the 6" of the Desert Jack.

I thought it looked more like a Desert Jack because of the size of the sheath next to it.

Assuming all handel pins on Swamp Rats are the same size. look at how much handelspace the pins take up on the Desert Jack vs the Ratwiler. http://www.swampshack.com/

I think you're right James! I stand corrected. That's just a gian-normous sheath.

The good news is that Ratweilers are a heck of a lot easier to find than Desert Jacks. The Desert Jacks seem like a more useful all around size though I'm sure the Camp Tramp fans are likely to disagree <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
