I can't see how the cost could be any more !!!!

I could see several ways it might cost more. Black may be the cheapest to manufacture for whatever reason. The current supplier may only supply black coatings and the other colors may have to be purchased from other suppliers so Dan's total volume of black might be reduced and it may cost incrementally more. Anytime you cut your volume in half with a supplier it's probably going to have some cost ramifications.

Supplying different colors could actually raise Dan's costs. It's not just a pigment of your imagination! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Who cares f it costs more? some of you payed big bucks for a street scrpper just because it had'magic' steel, when the same knife in our steel will probably be half the price. it is all based on what you want to spend your money on.
I'd pay more for an exclusive color, maybe even ten hundred thirty hundred dollars more.
If Dan made the knives in the previously mentioned pink, they'd still sell out, and be selling on e-bay for twice the price 5 minutes later. And selling.

Roo,
I would happily pay more for color. However, there a number of folks on this forum that value absolute best performance per $$ above all, and that dictates keeping the price as low as possible. That is what the Scrapyard is all about, absolute best price/performance.

Does that mean no colors ever? I don't think so. I think it means Dan has to be satisfied that he can meet his high standards of price/performance before he would offer colors.

I bet he can steal some left over tan swamprat handles, if the opportunity arises. The same goes for the paint.
it is just a matter of time.....

See roo. I told you. Some folks are afraid that any color but black will cost them more. At least Dan the Man said he would consider it.

Black is fine for me, but I want LOGOS on all the knives. I don't need no stinkin' sterile knives. I want everyone to know I have Scrapyards.
BIG +1
LOGOS on all the knives.
How much more are we really talking Dan?

Paul that is soooo awesome! I had a Smith and Wesson model 29 with a 6 inch barrel done in nickel and the shine was glorious!

Talk about a mirror finish? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Only trouble is it would show EVERY imperfection or pimple on the blades.

But what a signal knife on a deserted island it would make!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

The LOGO thing is sensitive.

A VERY large number of knives are sold to the United States of America Department of Defense for Military use. As per their standards there is and will not be identification allowed on Military items.
Rather than re-run a production of knives with a Logo added to them after they have all been produced and sold except for the thousand or so that are offered up on the Yard for sale they just keep it cheap and simple and sell us what is already done.
The Logo on the Satin finish blades is part of the whole de-blemishing process to bring the base steel of the blade up to specs for a satin finish and is therefore no trouble. Those are run for The Yard only and are NOT sold to the Government.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Peace.

And for the record, the only person who wants logos on every blade we buy more than me is The Prince of Peace.
I know because he says it to me all the time!
