How do you guys feel do they hold an edge.Realizing that they are hardened to a healthy 58-60,they should hold an edge almost as good as the rats, don't they?

I can't say I am stunned by the edge holding of my sr77 yard knives.. BUT when I hit a steel staple in a piece of wood I was chopping up my DF, the edge just rolled a bit and didn't chip. After a few hour soak in warm salty water they went rusty.. but cleaned up well and easily- to suffer no long term ill effects. So as a working edge that Lansky's up pretty well sr77 takes some beating!!

As an allrounder Dan's knives can't be beaten at the price- or a good chunk above it!

While not a Scrap Yard knife, my Swamp Rat Crash Axe is made of the same steel (SR-77) and has the same Busse heat-treat as the Scrap Yard knives. I cut a huge hole in the hood of a car, and it was still sharp enough to slice cut cardboard when I was done. That’s better edge holding that most knives.

hmm yes,I like that Axe The spike's got a nice penetration potential,eh?
I promise if I'll ever see you walking down a street passing by in a car I'll not shout nasty things at you out of the car to piss you off))

Their edge holding ability is what I would rate as Superior.
I don't own any other blades that hold a better edge under high abuse. I have eighty-five now.

Customs, production,semi production.

All kinds. Most all steel made in the last thirty years. SR-77 is well,
I think you need to abuse it yourself to find out how well it really does.

Words, like a McDonald's hamburger are cheap.

Actions, like a good book speak volumes.

Peace.

Some people just never learn.

Wow,cool so.That's what I've hoped for to hear. Then the only potential drawback of the 77 seems to be the slightly higher corrosion proneness, which I could most of the time live with fairly easy I guess.

Greetings,Alex

Don't worry about corrosion too much! The coating and res-C protect the tang and the blades are so thick and heavy rust will never really damage them badly (they go red/brown they don't pit!). Just take an oily rag and a crock stick and laugh at people with expensive knives! (Unless they are Busse INFI..)

Oh and pack a stainless steel Mora (or similar) for skinning..
