Me too. Could have been real bad.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I am soooo happy this story had a happy ending. Fire is one of Mother Nature's cosmic entertainments and sources of renewal. Speaking of being separated from nature, Fire wields unimaginable power.

I am just relieved you got home in time Vic!

Fire is still magical to me, Kraz. I fear it and crave it. It is beautiful and frightening. It destroys and creates. It is primal.

No, there is no soft ball sized metallic object in the ground. I can see where lightning blew the bark off this dead trunk and roots of the swamp maple.

Glad to hear everything was ok. Too bad it wasn’t a meteorite. They can be worth their weight in gold, or diamonds for that matter if they’re really rare. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it here or not, but I have a meteorite collection (scroll down) myself.

And speakin’ of lightning, here’s a neat pic of “fossilized lightning” caused by it hitting sand and turning it to glass. On the right are some fossilized dinosaur egg shell pieces. This pic is from my Andy's Artifacts thread for those who are new and haven’t seen it. Vic, if the dirt was sandy enough, you might find some of these where the bolt connected to the ground.

Ouch!

Glad everything worked out well for you Vic!

Smoldering fires are a big problem up here due to soil composition and peat moss... Some can smolder for years and suddenly explode. Or in an active fire, you can suddenly sink several feet into the ground into a burning pit of peat.
