Short of cutting the top off of bottles or hacking through a can, I can not get the Yard Hook's hook to function as a bottle opener without huge amounts of effort. I tried, Guiness, Labatt, Heinken, Corona, and Sam Adams. Some were twist off. Most were not. Since I take this seriously, I will keep trying and continue to post results.
Is there a trick I am missing though? Still far too much effort to open one.

I don't recall others having any success either.

But if you can figure out how to it could be classified as a multi-tool.

I was acctually able to do it, but it took a lot of effort. I did it just for the fun of it.
I think it was Miller or MGD that I tried.

I have an EH3 mini-Mojo, not a Yard Hook, but the blade designs look very similar. Assuming they're the same, the end of the hook simply isn't shaped right for opening bottles; it's meant to guide a blade into the slot rather than to catch and hold the lip of a bottle cap. Short of filing/Dremeling the tip of your hook, then closing up the hook to spine gap a bit (which I imagine would take some pounding), I don't think you're going to have much success using your Yard Hook as a bottle opener. It wasn't worth it to me, but you may want to take a stab at it.

It is not a bottle opener it is for catching an opponents blade in a knife fight. It probably does not work much better than as a bottle opener though. I like how the hook feels on my thumb and how it looks. It also works for tucking the knife into a shash.

The hook doesn't do a thing for me. That's why I got the Guard instead.

When you care enough to use only the best...stick'em with a SKYCO knife.

Yeah, I know it is a blade catch. It will never see that use. I just wanted the multi-tool capability. That and it would be way cool at a party when everyone is searching for an opener to whip out a yard hook and open a cold one. I may have to mod it a little bit. I would have to strip it a-la Horn Dog if I did. Having the hook a different color would not sit well with me. Two-tone is just not a look for a knife.
