uh yeah!
Hey that's an Accessory that i'd like.. some kinda field sharpening kit.. dunno if it's feasible, but some kind of: portable strop, need some compound too.. unless strop was made of some weird stuff, and little bottle of oil.

I put mine to the sharpmaker. It sharpened up fine. I'm not gonna bother keeping the convex. except maybe with the DF.

The sharp maker is really good for serations. But I like my Edgepro Apex better for PE knives.

Man I love this thing. I put an edge on a kitchen knife I didn't know I could. I need to use it on my SS4.

Tony, I've got the boxed Lansky kit with the clamp, oil bottle and five grit stones in it (and of those five stones I only the extra coarse and medium regularly!). It works well but the thought of reprofiling the DF is giving me sleepless nights..

I do have a large bench oilstone but that just does cheap knives where I can afford to stuff up the edge angle..

I seldom dull a knife to the point that it needs major work.
For years, I have used a sharpening steel most of the time, which seems to work okay for me.

You can always pick up some cheap kitchen knives at Goodwill or a garage sale or something to practice on. Once you can get crappy steel sharp, sharpening quality steel is easy.

funny you say that..
In grade school I once picked up half a dozen Henkels blades from a swap meet for CHEAP!
started thowing them.. and broke like half the blades..
what a shame.. they were nice too.
