I can get the paper trick to work occasionally but only on a reprofiled thinned out edge. The two yard knives I've got wouldn't sharpen at all with the factory edge profile- it was just too thick... Both Lansky'd up pretty well at '25'! I think stropping would be the only cost effective way of keeping 'em convex if you want that type of edge.

yeah i know what you mean.. i'm not set up for stropping at all.
I used a BDU-type Nylon belt to strop an old Kershaw Corral Creek II lockback to Scary RAZOR sharp in less than a minute! oh man!
(iirc it's steel is either Aus6A stainless.. or 440A stainless.. can't remember!)
no stropping compound.. just the belt.

then I tried same thing on HRLM's sr-101.. Nothing!

tried on SS4's Infi.. ha! it made by Belt dull!

i may try loading it w/ compound next.. or get set up w/ a Real Strop
