Anyone know of a good survival book to get? I'm looking for one that has a lot of cool ideas and tricks that I can even utilize while i'm camping. I've looked on Amazon.com, but there are just too many to pick from. Any suggestions?

The "SAS survival Handbook" by John "lofty" Wiseman is a good one. Here it is on AmazonIts probably one of the best and most recommended.

Here is a few more, but I would still recommend the SAS Survival guide for your first or only.
"How to Survive Anywhere: A Guide for Urban, Suburban, Rural, And Wilderness Environments" by Christopher Nyerges
"98.6 Degrees: The Art of Keeping Your [censored] Alive" by Cody Lundin
"Wilderness Survival" by Greg Davenport

Cool! I'll have to get the SAS one....not that knowing how to terminate Zombies isn't somethng everyone should know!
And no worries Knife party! Looks like we would be getting lost in the same area anyway! hehe <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
I'm thinking about going backpacking for a few days near Tahoe or just driving the 3 hrs to Yosemite and doing it there. I'm currently in the process of buying all the gear.

I would check out some of the bushcrafting books like the ones by Ray Mears. They are designed for people who went to the bush on purpose as opposed to those books like the SAS guide that are written for people who are trapped there. More stuff about cool things you can do to make your stay fun and comfortable rather than just not dying. Their are tons of websites devoted to bushcrafting if like me you are to cheap to actually buy the books.

I like Tom Brown's books, myself. I also have the pocket SAS book, and the ranger handbook. both be small enough to tote about.
