Why would I kill it? It's beautiful. Even my squirrels and rabbits don't run from me anymore.

It was Loki. Thor's fire would have been more impressive. I have these huge blue tailed skinks that live under the siding in my house. Never had a roach problem. I have hunderds of bats that come out at dusk from the dead trees in my border areas. I have snakes, frogs, toads, lizards, salamanders, and a host of raccoons and opossums. I love it. The more pest-eating creatures I have, the better.

Just looked out back and saw my tortoise crossing the freshly mowed grass. Haven't seen him or her all year. What a beautiful shell. Headed for the creek. Would make a pretty knife handle, but we have synthetics for that now. I'd rather have the turtle.

Tried to get closer, then he pulled his head in.

I love seeing things like this in my yard.

Very neat. They say you can determine their age by counting the rings on the shell, kind of like counting the rings of a tree...at least thats what they say

When I was a teen we made a bat house which is like a bird house with no bottom and slats for them to hang off. They really helped with the mosquito problem.
A single bat eats a huge amount of the little ^^*&#@ers .

I hunt but I don't shoot everything I see. I try to help with the balance of nature rather than destroying it. I don't shoot coyotes unless they start actually attacking the animals in the yard because they control the gopher pop.
Gophers are awful little vermin ,I almost crashed my bike when I saw one gopher EATING another dead roadkill gopher I was so shocked.

I am going to harvest a couple coyotes this fall for a fur hoodie though.
I also really want one of those coonskin hats with the head still on for the next time I visit Vancouver.

Was out today between showers. Went to photo the FBM and caught this skink on the patio.

I’ve seen a couple of blue tailed skinks around here lately. I dunno if you’ve seen the blue tailed ones, but they’re beautiful. And fast as lightning too. They move so quick it’s a blur sometimes. I wanted to get some pics, but they’re too dang fast. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
