I am glad to see someone other than myself that likes the SOG knives. I have a seal 2000, and the seal pup. I like the light weight, plus I am a big fan of the 'nam-ish style SOG blade profile. The only thing I do not like is the kydex sheaths they came with. One day, I will upgrade.

I love SOG knives. I have an original SOG Bowie. I have preordered the new Team Leader (the cheaper one in 440C). They and Buck have the prettiest grinds in the industry.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Nothing like 4 inch or so shiny steel to chase the sickness blues away. Nice collection.

I will have to eat at Horn Dog's Buffet!!! Great stuff my friend! Tell Helen I said hello. I will, Dan. She actually enjoys helping me out with the knife displays and reviews. She even brought her Dumpster Mutt. I told her I wanted a standard, unmodified one for the pictures. She liked my shiny one, so we traded. Helen fell in love with the Benchmade Skirmish. I think she likes recurves. I'll have to find her a Mini-skirmish for Christmas.

I have always wanted to try an Al Mar out, that knife just looks like a utilitarian dsign. That HRLM you polished up looks like it came that way from the factory.

I have always wanted to try an Al Mar out, that knife just looks like a utilitarian dsign. That HRLM you polished up looks like it came that way from the factory. If you are used to Busse Knife Group knives, the Al Mar will seem very light and delicate in comparison. Even though it is S30V, there is no way it is as tough as the thicker, heavier Ratmandu, a knife about the same size. It has a very thin point. The emphasis seems to have been placed on the "Resistance" part of SERE. This knife is a fighter/utility design. Even the SOGs seem more rugged. I like the knife, but in a wilderness survival situation, I'd take the RMD, Gerber LMF 2, Dumpster Mutt, or Buck Strider Solution over it. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Buffet016.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Buffet017.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Buffet018.jpg)

Thanks for the info. The Al Mar definitley looks to be more delicate in the tip area than the Busse Kin blades I am used to.

I think the SERE would be fine for day hikes. It is very light and sharp. Since you are out in the desert anyway, I doubt its appearance would be a problem. I really like the knife, but I would not want anyone reading this forum to be misled into thinking it is as rugged as the Scrap Yards and Swamp Rats we are used to.
