After using my SS4 for chopping food, I washed it thoroughly and covered it in mineral oil. That got me thinking, is there any negative effect that comes from using too much oil? How about with the kydex sheath? I can't imagine any, but I am no metallurgist.

Nah no worries
on the kydex?? It depends on who made it..If it were crafted by rain or myself, then you are fine and it wont be harmed
if it were made by others, the oil will disolve it in a matter of hours!!! So you KNOW what you should have done huh??

Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms should be a convenience store, not a Government Agency.

Really well, but it was only carrots, celery, and green beans. It might hang up if you cut through something thicker. I will find out.

Just make sure you wipe it off well before using it to cut food. Mineral oil is also used internally as a laxative. Too much and, well, you get the picture.
