Been doing machete work across the island. Naturally, I picked the hottest days for it. Helped a family clear an overgrown lot. The young lady gasped when she saw my "collection" of yard weapons. "Don't you use power tools?" she asked. "Real men don't need them", I replied. When I finished the job today, she asked my name. I told her and she said, "We just called you Machete Man". Glad she paid in cash. Here are my latest Sheeple Unfriendly Evil Tools:
Cold Steel Barong and Bowie 12" machetes. They are 1055, and they cut real good!

I wish my throwing knives stuck this easy. Always could stick a machete.

The Barong rocks.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I like the looks of the Barong. Looks like a nice multi-functional tool.

"Machete Man!" I like that; if they only knew the "GodFather of Evil Satin Tools" was among them ! Great collection boss HD, and perdy too Those grips look very comfy!

The grips are much improved over the slick ones from Afica. The overall workmanship is better than previous CS machetes, too. Sheaths are better, too. They do not come sharp, though. Not a problem for me. I'd rather grind my own secondary edge than correct one somebody screwed up. These are much less expensive than Condor's, and I really like the way the 1055 performs so far. As far as Maximum Evil, I think that Ontario Combat machete is it (I didn't bring it to the job). Might try an 18" Kopis next.

The barong is heavier than the bowie. I haven't actually chopped with it yet, but it sticks in trees good! I used the bowie today for some close trimming on wax myrtles. It is nice. I think the barong will out chop it, because of the extra weight. Both are 3 mm thick. They are also available in 18" blades. The steel seems to be pretty good. They seem to hold an edge about as well as Tramontinas, but are thicker and heavier. They are thinner than Ontarios, though. As machetes go, these are among the best I've seen. I will be doing a chopping comparison soon. I think the barong is a real contender for the Altamaha trip this Fall.
