Actually, I'm not altogether sure how happy Jerry would be to have his knives become standard military issue. My sense is that his operation is already as big as he wants it to be. And don't forget, the bigger the operation, the bigger the headaches.

From what little I've heard, I think the Busse family military contracts are a little more specialized.

Which could also be very interesting...I have been told that the Ruck which was a slightly shorter AK type, was actually a military overrun... I could have misunderstood though... [/quote]

Let's say I want a custom knife made for my 8 man team. I ask Jerry to make them to a certain style and have our team insignia on them. I'm sure things are discussed and worked out about permission using the unit insignia. Permission granted. Jerry produces them and advertises "Military Overuns" "Specialized Military Contract." Great advertisement and marketing skills. Once again, Jerry is a genius.

What Jerry does, and who he sells to, and who he lets know is his business. This is the mystery that keeps everyone guessing. The magic of marketing.
I'm glad he makes a superior product and offers it to everyone with a lifetime guarantee. The aren't many knife makers out there, that I know, that make similar offers.

Isn't that a great knife with a shorter S6 style blade but the ratweiler handle.

Yes it is. I like that knife and sheath combo.

I just tuned in to this thread for the first time. Diceman, I want to thank you for your service and I wish you well. Horn Dog, I got the impression you served in the past and I thank you as well.

You bet, Bill! I was regular Army for a few years, and am in the National Guard now. I served in Korea, but haven't been to Afghanistan/Iraq or seen combat as of yet. Vic has done a lot during his military career.

Jason (Gravelface) is the Yard's war hero though - he was wounded in Iraq. Hell of a guy, and very generous. He actually had a contest and gave away some INFI and SR101 to the person who could guess how many stitches he got from his injuries. (since no one guessed it, he had us guess how much he weighed holding a box full of all his INFI) You can search for that thread, around last Easter I think (both here and the Busse forum at BF). The guys here at the Yard (coordinated by Magnum22)in turn got him a Dumpster Mutt when they were released to thank him for his service and generousity. Dan covered shipping and handling himself, and I think Unsub and Eric at On Scene Tactical threw in a sheath. Just wanted to throw that in to let you know about Jason's service. Great people here.

Long live the Yard!

Jason Rules ,I would not have my YKLE if it wasn't for him.

I think some of you guys are underestimating how bad it would be to be caught in some parts of the world with US gear. Special forces guys may not pick up their casings but they [censored] sure take the time to ensure that the ammo they use is available locally.

China is in hot water right now because the Janjaweed militia in Darfur were caught with new AK's and other equipment with chinese markings and 05 dates.

Suppose a US special ops team does a mission where they want it to look like it was tribal warfare. A single piece of marked equipment left behind could cause enormous problems.

The Taliwhacker was a private purchase item not a military contract.
If it could cause problems down the line and it costs extra why would you want a logo? It seems like cheap insurance.
