Thanks Andy. Excellent set of pictures! As an Army "brat" I really enjoyed them. I remember seeing some big self-propelled howitzers like you showed in the picture. Looked like someone had ripped the the gun out a battleship.

The "inside" missle looked like a Hawk air defense missle. It was a relatively low altitude missle on a mobile launch platform.

Anyway, thanks for the memories

Great post Andy, thanks for taking the time and effort to write down the neat facts and cool stuff that we needed to know about those pieces.

No problem. I just looked at the signs from the larger 5 MP originals and typed out the info in case anyone was interested.

I would love to get my hands on one of those spent casings, it would be great for a man room decoration.

Yeah, I thought it would make a really cool umbrella/walking stick stand. Might find one at Knob Creek…

What knives are you carrying in the pics? One on your side and one around your neck.

On my belt is my HRLM in my Armorall sheath that I got from Vance, and on my neck is my 3/16” Rat Shaker.

Hmmm I never saw this befre, really cool pictures though. That large shell must have made a really big noise.

Excellent post Andy!
I'm going to have to get down there to visit one of these days!

I really like that BMW R12. I almost bought a BMW R70 this last summer.
Didn't have enough money to buy knives and the motorcycle though...hehe...
Knives won out!!

Great pics my friend

Cheers

I just uploaded these pics at full resolution to Flickr, and I thought some of the new folks might like to see them, and some of the old folks might like to see 'em a little bigger.

A friend of mine bought a 1967 or '68 duce and a half that I think he said was made by Kaiser. Come to find out it was not bought in Tennessee but about 30 miles down the road! A guy locally has several of them and some of the large 2 wheeled trailers and como(?)shacks. My friend says he makes mud trucks out of the duces. Not really sure what that means.

ANYWAY, he is restoring it and needs some of the extra equipment. Shovels picks and other gear that came with/was carried on them. Does ANYONE know of a source for parts/items he can get so that he can restore his truck. His has a Hugh wench and spare or spares and the cover over the bed and is pretty much complete. Think he said this guy starts selling them for about $3500.00 and up.

If you know of any sources let me know either here if it's permissable or via PM.

Thanks

Randy
