.... all three companies have contracts with the military from time to time so that also eats into production.
Jerry Could this be true, i.e., the military contracts for knives from Busse companies? I've read that some soldiers and Marines are issued no knives at all. I've been sending knives to Iraq and Afganistan since 2002, in the belief some guys had empty sheaths. If it's true some guys have no knives at all and yet the military can afford formal contracts with the Busse companies instead of companies like Kershaw, Camillus and Ontario, something is amiss. I can understand individual soldiers and Marines, who can afford the best, might order a Busse, or maybe some elite units, but if the military as a whole is not ordering from the lowest bidder, as they have in the past, it's no wonder our taxes are so high. Please understand, I am not saying the military should be forming contracts with the lowest bidder, only that that is how I understand the process has worked historically. Please understand Jerry, I do not question your veracity, I just raise the question.

Silverbullets - Welcome to the Yard! Releases have been particularly slow for a while - back in Feb-April they were popping! I guess the reason is the military contracts, but as Bruce mentioned, Dan promised a release that will fall around the 21st of the month - very soon! He also said 3 knives I believe (3, or a few, I can't remember). So... stick around - it should be interesting!

Welcome Din and Silverbullets!!
Welcome to The Yard, a great place to hang out learn and talk about our insane devotion to the greatest price to performance knives on the planet.
The Scrap Yard Knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />
These are more value than any blade I believe you will EVER find! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
The blades are as close to Superknives as Superman was to being Superman...er ... rather ... well you get it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> They are tough beyond words. I have bludgeoned my Yard Hook and Dog Father into the hardest trees on the planet. I have continually used them like a Axe or Hatchet when they are in fact hand knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Every Scrap Yard Knife I own is the same, beyond my highest expectations!! And I have some insane high standards as some of my Yard mates will agree. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
They NEVER will let you down. They are more blade than ANYONE should ever need or want, and Dan and Patti Busse keep the prices so low that they almost always sell out on their first public offering. There is always plenty of warning for a release like now we all know that before October we will have a new blade. Dan will post here when it is 48/24 hours away then usually around 8p.m. it hits the fan. Likes Friday nights too!
Stick around you two and enjoy the talks and photos we all share here in The Yard. Please post some of your own knives for us to see. Post some outdoor places you may visit and tell us why and what you liked or didn't like about them.
This is just a great place to come instead of filling your screen with porn or swear words here you can actually let and encourage the kids to come.
This Yard is a safe place for all.And it will stay that way too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Dan and Patti run a great forum. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Enjoy!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Peace.
Some people just never learn.

Yeah - I think you're right Scrappy - I'm sure that they're ordered by individual units or platoons at a time.

I wish that the few military overruns were headed the yard rather than to to Blade West. I understand the marketing reasons for doing so -- you pay for a place at a show and if you expect to attract new customers from the exposure, then you've got to have knives to sell. However, "the pack" also needs a bone thrown once in a while. I suppose that you could call the coin our bone, but that's not what I'm looking for. I want a blade, I want it big, the dogfather was a good beginning, but only a beginning... I want a res-c handled cutlass!!

The United States does not have a monopoly on "military" purchases. I know I've seen Israeli troops with Busse knives and Jerry has never said the military runs are for the US military exclusively. It always seems to be taken for granted that they are referring to the US military when overruns are announced and I doubt that is the case.
