anyone done it.... got any pics, I would love to try to mod mine...
I wonder if just thinning with a dremmel would do it?

Maybe - the problem that I've noticed is just the fact that the hook is rounded and won't grip the cap - I don't know if the underside of the hook needs to be brought "up", or if you could just grind the hook shorter leaving a flat front edge to grab the edge of the cap. Just speculation though - I really don't know what I'm talking about!

I would think it could be done with just a little modification. I actually managed to open a bottle with mine but it took a little effort. Make that space just a little wider and WaLa...The perfect Survival and Beer drinking tool... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I seem to remember bottle tops in US just twist off- which threw me when confronted by a Budweiser bottle and no bottle opener.. (Until I dug out my SAK (Champ)). Normally in such dire circumstances I use the table edge to whack off the top... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" /> But the Yard guard is much better than a table edge! (Probably, don't have one to verify that opinion, but a post with no mention of yard knives may be taboo these days... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> )

I plan on drilling the inside curve of the hook, with a slightly larger bit than the diameter of it. I almost have the drill press set up (for other stuff). I'll let you know, maybe even take pictures, I need to have it secure (safety) and make sure it doesn't get to hot, all under control <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Not sure if any other US beers have them?

I tried cutting the top of a beer can off with the ak47 but all I got was wet with nothing left except maybe one mouthfull in the bottom of the can to drink. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
