I posted this in bld522's poll post but wanted all the Dogs in the Yard to know how I feel about Scrapyard. This is my opinion and I am not trying to convince anyone else that my way of thinking should be theirs.

Maximum price/performance in the strictest sense would imply CG finishes and therefore less time and finishing/polishing.

HOWEVER, many of the Dogs have let it be known that they like, love and WANT polished/finished blades/LEs. This comes at a higher production cost and therefore higher retail cost.

We all know this BUT it does not mean (IMO) that the price performance creed is broken. Dan is trying to make us all happy and is also following Busse family knife tradition by giving buyers a choice of which level of price/performance they want. A Scrapyard LE blade may cost more that CG but the value of what you are getting for the price is still a great deal compared to other Busse and companies LEs. Comparisons or criticisms of the two finishes are simply personal technicalities and not important to me. I think that many of us prefer to pay as little for a high quality dependable and tough knife as we can but many like the LE finish and don't mind paying for it.

HD has made some of his CGs into LEs and they look great. He enjoys doing it and is very good at it. (I hope he does not mind me saying so) Many of the Dogs don't have the time or equipment to do the same and prefer the prefinished LE with logo.

I will appreciate Scrapyard blades at any finish level because they are good values at any finish level! They are [censored] good knives! I don't mind waiting and don't care when they are released because I have many knives to use while I wait. I consider the time between any and all releases as test and use time for the blades I have at hand.

I know that when the new releases do come it will be a time of great steel happiness and new toy use which will be shared by all who are on the forum.

I prefer the CGs on almost all of my user blades because I use the heck out of them and they are cheaper. But after I use em a lot they look the same as a used LE -------USED,-- and abused but still tough and dependable. (This is all Busse family blades).

Scrapyard blades have become some of my (and many others) favorites because they are so tough and reasonably priced at either finish level. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

+1.

(Don't the LE's cut better anyway, due to the lack of the friction causing black-coat? If this is right they (LE) uphold the performance to price mantra...)

JYD #3 Poor, but still dreaming of a sage and black SOD CG...
