I used the strobe in my Novotac 120p fun stuff but I used my G2l for lighting up the night

I don't dislike the SOS function, but it would be nice if it wasn't in the mix w/ the low/med/high. If you were seriously lost or injured, I could see just leaving the SOS mode on while you were sleeping. I have the L2D Premium - 175 Lumens sure is bright! I put the L1D body on it and don't lose hardly any illumination - in fact, side by side with my brother's w/ the 2 AA body I couldn't really tell any difference when looking at both beams 200 yards out or so. Battery life will be about 1/2, but I figure I'll just carry a spare AA in my pocket or car in case mine dies. This is my first small "nice" light, but I really like Fenix so far!

I picked up a surefire E1L about two weeks ago. I really like it. The amount of light it gives off is usable, and it's oh so easy to carry around. Granted it'll be a lot more expenbsive than the Fenix, but I like it.

You can't go wrong with a SF. Go for the G2L or the G2ZL the Z is the combat light version, you can get an incan for like 39.00 but I like LED no bulb burnout or dropping and breaking it, I also got a light called the Olight, it has lots of cool features tail clickie, and twist head click on- twist head to go down in brightness 5 options, and go figure strobe, and SOS but a good quality light, I used some shrink tube on mine to make it a little tuffer on the falls or if I use it between my teeth.

This was how I originally thought I would approach the L2D. I thought I would buy the L1D body to have both. And that if they were comparable in power, I would rather carry a spare battery in my pocket than in the light. - ultimately, I would just be carrying less tubing.
I asked some dealer who told me the L1D wouldn't be nearly as bright.... He said something about the bulb needed a certain amount of power to maximize the bulbs potential or something that didn't make sense to me.
In any event, I have pursued the L1D body. The guy from Lighthound is supposed to be holding two L1D bodies for me when he gets his next shipment. I need to follow up.
If the L1D is putting out about the same power as the L2D, then having and using the L1D body tube sounds more preferrable to me. I pretty much never need the full Turbo mode at 175 lumens.

I have been VERY happy and satisfied with myt Fenix L2D so far. I can't wait to get the L1D tube.

Yeah, I was pretty impressed. I was expecting about 1/2 - and we went out back behind my dad's house and stood on a hill and shined out 150 feet or so, and the beams looked identical, virtually no difference in brightness - shined out to several hundred feet and they illuminated equally. I think that the only thing we'll notice is a big reduction in battery life - probably less than 1/2 - but I'm still expecting 20+ hours on low and 10 hours of med/high use.

It just sounds so unlikely that it'd illuminate almost as well with one battery, but we did them side by side and that was the case!

I can't afford a lot of things I want right now, but I think I can scrounge for a $12.00 body tube! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
