I think the earth just naturally goes through warming and cooling cycles. I well remember the new "ice age" fear mongers. But it is hot! I am an environmentalist by trade. We are doing much better in some areas. I don't know how much of the current warming is man-made. The "computer models" have been consistenly wrong about a lot of things. The evidence suggests that atmospheric CO2 levels are much higher than they were in earlier times. How much of an impact that really has on global warming is debatable. There is no doubt that anti-capitalists and Marxists have infected the debate with their own agenda. I would point out that the capitalist countries have a much better environmental record than the communist ones had. My rant over.

See y'all up here in Montana soon, plenty of room!
Montana is on my short list. Thing is, the only real cold weather experience I have is in Germany and some in TN and KY. I will be a very old novice in cold weather survival. Montana gets much colder than Germany. I'm sure Cabela's will be happy to sell me the appropriate attire. I don't even own any long johns anymore! But I have seriously considered Montana. If global warming continues, it may be the perfect climate!

Western part of the state isn't nearly as cold as the Eastern part was. I was actually thoroughly disappointed with this last winter - more rain than snow.

Oh man today was horrible in South Louisiana. The humidity makes you want to strap on scuba gear. My wife is from Utah, and is dying to move back. I am about to give in myself and move west. I have been there a good bit visiting the in-laws, so I have gotten a taste of the mountains, and it really is nice to actually be able to sleep on the ground and not worry about ants. Plus, I love snow!! Never can get enough of it, although my wife tells me wait till I have to shovel it. IT should be fun!!!

I would be surprised if a little snow did not fall tonight. We are about 50/50%
for white halloween.

Rather than total global collapse I predict more Katrina type disasters and overcrowding due to population growth. It will become very hard to get clean water so HD if you are looking for a piece of country like I am try to find one with a good well or spring. Other than the ridiculous winters Saskatxchawan is actually pretty good. We have less people and more fresh water than most places and are much more self sufficient. Unfortunately we have the highest murder rate in Canada and my hometown has 4 times the murder rate of that. It really is a lot like the wild west both good and bad.

All North American options are still open. Can I keep my AK-47 and AR-15s in Canada?

I am with you Vic, it's still in the 90s here in Aridzona. Not a darn green thing in sight. I need some green shrubery and cooler temps myself.
Yeah, but its a DRY heat, jeeps!

I was born and raised in Southern Arizona. Did my basic training and OSUT at Ft. Benning from June through September. I will always maintain that a 120 degree dry heat is far worse than 90-100 degrees with 90+ percent humidity. The heat sure can suck, but Arizona will always be home to me.

Were down to the teens and 20's up here in the great white North. Snowed all day today. Probably won't be seeing much of the grass again until April. It definitly got colder here earlier this year than last.

I love a nice dry-heat. nothing feels better than those first few minutes of getting in your car when it's 110 outside and approximately nine-million degrees hotter inside, before the AC kicks in.

hush, jason. I want glacier national park the way it was a few years ago, not the way it is now. it's ugly as sin. well, compared to how it used to be.

You see, there is a positive side to everything. My island will be a sandbar, but I'll either be dead or raising dental floss in Montana.

Raising it up, waxing it down,
In a little white box that I can sell up town.
By myself, I wouldn't need no boss,
But I'd be raising my lonely dental floss.
Chorus:
Movin' to Montana soon.
Gonna be a dental floss tycoon.

BTW: There was a record high here yesterday. Darned Al Gore.
