You're right, the story is that there was a one-time allowance to release a Scrap Yard knife in INFI. The way I heard it, large quantities of Johnny Walker Blue were involved in the negotiations.
While they're about twice the price, Busse Combat recently released some Leaner Meaners, and I wouldn't be surprised if BCS came out with G10 pumpkin-handled Meaners for Halloween, but that's entirely speculation on my part. Meaners have a similar blade profile to the SS4s, although they have a much smaller choil, and of course they have very different handles.
One of my favorite EDCs ever was the Swamp Rat Bandicoot (actually, I prefer the INFIcoot, which was the same knife in INFI [and in desert tan color], but good luck finding an INFIcoot for anything resembling a reasonable price these days); see
http://swampshack.com/. Earlier this year, Eric Isaacson told me told that Swamp Rat had plans to release a micarta-handled version of the Bandicoot, but they haven't yet. However, the Swamp Rat store should have "Swamp Wardens" soon, which are small skeleton-handled knives that should be priced at about $60.
Once again, this is speculation on my part, but most demand in the yard has been for another big (7 or 10-inch, possibly even larger) blade, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a Scrap Yard EDC by Christmas except for Dumpster Mutt Limited Editions, which will probably sell out fairly quickly online starting tomorrow night (OK, tonight since it's after midnight here). In my opinion, they're a bit large for an EDC, but they are an excellent knife and would be well worth buying (I picked up two at Knob Creek).
