I have never bought a Swamp Rat knife and I'm completely unaware of how that site handles it's sales. Do they post a notice before they are actually shown in the store, or do they just pop up and you have to be at the right place at the right time?

If this is an inappropriate topic I will delete. I've registered at the Swamp Rat board, but haven't received my credentials yet.

Thanks

My experience is somewhat limited, but I usually wait to see it show up at the Rat store site and then buy it. They are pretty fast about shipping it once you buy it too. Got mine in three days. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

Eric is the moderator at Swamp Rat - "Rat Chat" forum (main forum) and the Bladeforums - Swamp Rat forum.

Eric is to Swamp Rat similar to what Dan is to Scrap Yard - except Dan is related to Jerry Busse!

Eric usually posts a notice on both forums when knives are available or coming. Just keep checking the Swamp Rat "Company Store" and the Rat Chat forum.

It sounds that you have found "Rat Chat" forum.

Here is the Swamp Rat - Company Store

The Bladeforums - Swamp Rat forum is redundant (IMO). But, I assume the intent was to draw in people who visit Bladeforums (???).

Maybe something will happen in "two weeks"? ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

[color:"yellow"] OR [/color] ..... there is another show this coming weekend "Wilmington Ohio PRO show Oct 27 -28" ..... So maybe "two weeks" after that. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

I also have limited experience, the last release was the Ratmandu and the blades were actually in the store right before he posted it. I happen to check the store early in the morning and they were there, then he posted on the forums and then they were gone (by noon I think). 4 hours and he sold out, so I am expecting the same for the weilers, I check it often. It would be nice to have a days notice so I can plan on being in front of my computer, I will be really ticked if I miss this offering, [censored]

It's also common for people post on Blade Forums and the Yard whenever products pop up at the Busse family stores. However, when something popular is released, the quantity available may only last a matter of minutes, possibly even a few hours, but it's unlikely that you'll have days (unless you want a Warden or a Mojo, and I've even seen them run out of those).

Dan actually controls his production so he knows when product will be available, but as I understand it, Eric and Skunk are both authorized distributors. They don't know when stuff will arrive until the delivery person rings their bell. They both put knives up for sale as soon as they arrive; the only way they could provide notice would be hold product back, which would annoy the folks who like the current "the quick and the hungry, see you at the BF Exchange" setup. I live local to Eric and he ships them out immediately, so it's not uncommon to receive my packages next-day.

Thanks fellas.

I really want want one of those ratweilers, their reputation seems to be well earned. I was gonna hold out for the DFLE, which is really what I want, but I have to get something. Maybe the DFLE won't come out for another 2-4 weeks, giving me time to rebuild my funds. The Ranger Renegade will have to go on hold until I see what's happening with these limited production knives.
