Yep, a low limit for a day or two would be fair... But as 'they'd' just pile up orders it wouldn't really work (or) Patti would have to do some clever record keeping to supply the right people.

If it was hard and fast no more than three each in the first two days that'd be fair. (A pair and a spare!) I've only ever bought single users.. (then again I kinda hoped a SS4 LE would follow, so should have got two CG's in...)

How about a pre-order MAXIMUM of two, valid for 72 hours ? After that, IF there are any left, then it's fair game!

I don't think you'll see NEARLY the response of the SS4. Yeah, the first wave may sell out rather quick. But I suspect Dan will have subsequent waves that anyone that wants one will get one. Like the S6. Only ones that didn't get one of those were the ones that waited too long.

I'm still on the fence. I foolishly ordered TWO FBM's. So my budget might be tight. I'm interested, but may be knife poor. (MAY be.)

What if Dan and Patti send a bulk email to all the members of this forum prior to the release? That information should be readily available to them. That way those of us who want DFs can have first crack at them. I think instituting the max limit on us is a good idea as well so we don't scarf them up to quickly and diminish the supply before others get their shot. We just get our shot a day or so earlier.

It's clear to me that a lot of us having very strong feelings on the subject of buying Scrap Yard knives not for the love of owning them and using them but for the love of reselling them to turn a profit. Before the Dog Father hits the market, I thought I'd create a central thread where we might share some constructive ideas with Dan & Patti on how to prevent speculators from spoiling the market for those of us who share a real passion for these knives.

I posted this idea in another thread. But I didn't want it to get lost. So I reproduced it here.

If I may make a recommendation, please give everyone a chance to buy a DF before the resellers gobble them all up. Don't let anybody buy more than a couple of them at a time during the first 72 hours after they go on sale. People who want more than that aren't interested in you or your product anyway. They're only interested in turning a profit.

If you've got another idea, please post it. Thanks.

I agree, but I'd extend it beyond 72 hours. Maybe for a couple of weeks even to give everyone who wants one or two a chance to get them before the scalpers start buying them.

I agree with mike Biz. those of us who are already loyal customers, and loyal forumites, should always get first dibs on everything.

Hell yeah! A bulk email 'heads up' would be spot on!
