Wierd stuff. Living here in AZ we don't have to worry about this crap.

I have a British friend who I got to talking to when we first met. I asked him about the gun laws there. After hearing what they were like I told him that's why we left. Seems like knives are on the attack now.

I wish it were different because I like the UK.

It's sad that some people see the knives as the problem rather than the criminals who use the knives... Longer periods of incarceration and less bleeding heart liberalism would make the streets a little safer imho.

Didn't you read the site!!!! The good citizens supply the criminal with their own knives and end of the victim?!

The UK sucks when it comes to the right to own or carry weapons and the insane degree the PETA nitwits have control over the general populace. The UK also has a silly amount of surveillance which was supposed to stop major crime and terrorism but is mainly used against petty criminals or for revenue like ticketing.
It has had no effect statistically on any crimes.

The US is getting bad on everything but weapons though.
The US has almost as many cameras as the UK.
The Bush administration wants total access to all the person info of everyone flying over US even though
they don't ever touch US soil and has a quarter of the worlds prisoners but 1/16
of the population due to draconian and ineffective drug laws. In Holland where pot is legal they have half the users per capita than the US.

To me this is all the same issue. It is people giving up their personal rights and responsibility out of fear and governments and other large powerful organizations like the world bank(possibly the worlds most evil organization)using that fear against us. That's what I noticed about that awful website. It was totally based an making people afraid of crime and afraid to defend themselves. It also blames inanimate objects for the actions of the people who use them.

Don't forget that the book 1984 was set in the UK. It has become the ultimate nanny state. Even Big Brother would be better than Big Nanny. I wonder if the Sikhs there can still carry the kukuris? You could always change your religion. Down South, gentlemen were expected to carry knives. Women were always borrowing them to sharpen a pencil or cut a thread or such. We were even allowed to carry them in school, except for switchblades.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Someone wrote in my high school yearbook about how we would use my pocket knife to play mumbly peg in the back row of French class.

N E V E R !!!

It's already happening here in some ways. I remember when I had no problems at all carrying a few, and I mean more than one or two pocket knives on a plane. Now you can hardly carry nail clippers...

That's only the beginning I'm afraid...

Fear, nor the fear of something will never stop crime or criminals...

plane carry is the worst. i try to think of things that i can bring on a plane that could be used in case of an emergency.

550 cord,
a nice heavy carabiner,
flashlight.

was thinking of getting one of those tactical pens on tad gear.

I am just glad that the governments of the world are here to protect me from myself. Why? Because they care.

Or you could take the currently fashionable British approach do nothing and when it all goes pear shaped if you survive hopfully sombody will have worked out where you are and they will come and get you once it has been properly risk assessed and passed by a team of lawyers and there are enough support groups for those involved and anyone who got upset just by seeing it on the telly
