It’s a free market, I don’t see anything wrong with people buying more than one. First come, first served. I think it’s a bit excessive people buying a dozen or more though or something like that. That’s a bit hoggish. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with buying extra knives as an investment. What’s the difference between selling a month after buying, or waiting a year?

Totally agree man. I am a capitalist at heart and Scrapyard is a business. If one person could buy every knife that Scrapyard could ever make, more power to him. We are all grown men here, and these are surely sweet blades, but if you miss out on a blade, big deal? It's not like losing an eye.

Good luck at the Dog Dish everyone!

The "Fix" is incredibly simple:

HAVE KNIVES IN STOCK !

DON'T RUN OUT !

If someone can order a knife at will on the site, then where would the secondary market prices be? I'll tell you......CHEAPER !

I don't care how many knives people chose to buy.

I would be pissed off if someone tried to tell ME how many I could buy.

I would tell them where to go.

I don't think it's an issue of being told how many knives we can buy. I think it's an issue of getting out what you put into it.

Many of us have been on the forum for sometime now (some more than others), and have expressed much enthuaism and desire for the bowie. I do seem to recall there was a vote on the thing. In a sense it's our knife too as our input (some more than others) was taken into consideration in its development. In a sense it's our company, forum, and our knife.

We've been patient, and above all loyal in our desires for the bowie, or any other knife from scrapyard for that matter. And many of us simply want one. I don't want to have to compete with the guy who hobby is making a little extra cash by buying up multitudes of knives to sell on the secondary market. I don't have a problem with people doing that. Capitalism is very tempting.

I will however, probably be very upset if I am not able to get a bowie. Why? Because I've put time into the forum, anticipated the release of the bowie, counted down the days to its release, and have been a loyal customer.

Personally I don't have a problem with Dan or Patti selling 50 of these things to one guy so he can turn over 49 of them on the secondary market. However, I do have a problem when I've been waiting, participating, suportive, and loyal and get squeezed out.

I don't think it's asking to much to get a fair shot at one. But those are just my two pennies on the subject.

Peace
Jerry

I'm not so sure what the big deal is here. When Dan posts his notice, none of you guys are going to leave the computer till the DF shows up anyway.

Guyon, good point (I also have the Tram' bolo from your picture, great working blade..) but I however being in the UK will at work or asleep when the green light comes on so could miss out on a DF- dammit!

Someone say Badger attack!!? Woo-hoo! (Little knives with the dreaded micarta are fine!)

Bld522 well spoken, and your idea is still a good way to fairly distribute these great knives amoungst the fans (JYD speaking!!), as well as the scalpers! Capatalism brought us these knives- but isn't there enough socialism in the US to make sure everyone who wants a DF at factory price has a shot??

Analogy

You go to Walmart to buy the latest Garth Brooks album. But some SOB got there as the truck was unloading and bought them ALL for $14.98. THEN he sets up a table right in Front of Walmart and scalps them for $20.00! Worse yet, what if Walmart turns a blind eye and Lets him do it!?

Ok sure "capitalism".. but where do you draw the line?
When does "capitalism" become Ugly like Martha Stewart insider trading.. or Enron price gouging? = Pure Greed??

In this thread so far.. no names have been mentioned.. so it has remained respectful.. just looking into Positive solutions here..
