Hi,

Im waiting on delivery of the great DMLE...I hope to get it within 2 weeks or so, no rush...:)

Are there any ScrapYard prefered/recommended sheath makers...(do most people here get custom shealths ??)

My preference so far is I think kydex for the simple and clean look, but do they hold the knife securely ? While Ive never read on the forums of a knife falling out of kydex, are they secure ?

(...my application is just hiking or walking around in the bush, belt carry...)

Following are some pics from the forum:

Leather I like too...

So what do most people have sheath wise for their ScarpYard knives...?

(If it matters I live in Canada, and would prefer not to send the knife away to get a custom sheath.)

Thank you !...JB

There are some great Kydex and Leather sheath makers here. Rainwalker made me a nice leather sheath and can provide you with a great looking kydex sheath as well.

I use both kydex and leather. I prefer the look of leather but the functionality of kydex.

As far as Kydex being secure, yes it is secure and when the tension is set properly, it can be carried horizontally. In addition, straps can be added to the Kydex sheath to make it as secure as it gets if you are using the sheath for rappeling or just need the added security.

Good luck and Welcome to the Yard John.

Letherface from this forum made me kydex sheaths for my S6, SS4, DM and DF and they are great. He also does leather.

Rainwalker and Leatherface are great.

It is worth mentioning that the second picture you posted is of Rainwalker's Knives and Sheaths that he made - so you could definitely get in touch with him if you like the look of those sheaths. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I usually go for Erics work but I have had an eye on one of Rainwalkers leather clip on sheaths like the one POP has for his SS4 but for my new Swamper.

I have a Leatherface leather sheath for my S6. It is excellent.
I have not dealt with Rainwalker yet, but everything I hear about his work has been positive.

I get most of my kydex from David Brown. Good dude, he's on the Busse site. Got a couple of sheaths from him last week and was so impressed I placed an order for two more this week.

i highly reccomend Rainwalker. He's made pants for my Mandu, SS4, AD (kydex and leather), Swamp Warden. He's currently making some for a hook for me.
