Maybe Dan and Patti ought to give a "pick up only" strategy a try. Then, we'll see who really wants the knives.
Anybody want to car pool?

Tony G, please see above request regarding swim suit model pics. Thanks. I only do trades, and all you got are photos of men's leather pants. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

I don't think there is any reasonable way to create a purchasing limit.
Look at concerts and sporting events. It's almost impossible to get good seats at face value at popular events but the brokers have lots of good seats at a mark up that makes secondary market knives look cheap.
If you limit the purchase to four tickets, what happens to a guy with a wife and three kids?
Some events sell tickets by lottery, would you like to see that?
Some people have very good reasons for buying multiples.
I bought 6 SS4's, I am going to sell one at cost, the rest are keepers.
I am not opposed to a system that is fair, but in every fair system, someone will feel that they got screwed for one reason or another and then the arguement will start again.
Most of the people complaining about the SS4 were not around long enough to know what happened to the Infi-coot. It was the same story, they sold quick then the secondary market prices shot up and many people who wanted to buy an Infi-coot at msrp could not.
I knew about the Infi-coot so I pounced on the SS4.
The first time around, the SS4 was in stock for several days. Any one that missed it did not know what was going to happen, was the victim of bad timing or just didn't have cash.
There is nothing that Scrap Yard can do about the timing. There is nothing that Scrap Yard can do about your finances.
If you feel you were screwed for some other reason (on the first offering), it's your fault.
Now for the Dog Father, I am going to buy one CG when it is released. I'll buy a few more LE's later. I'm not going to buy 6. Like Unsub said, Scrap Yard is not going to run out of S7. They will make CG's untill they think it's time to switch to another model.
Every one will get their chance to buy a Dog Father, don't make a decision that you will regret and complain about it later.
Arf arf arf... That's my other dog impression.

Lots of good ideas in this thread. I hope D&P are listening. We are listening, and there are some very good ideas but there is no easy answer since we get orders from swat teams, military and other large groups. We considered the bulk mail idea but the logistics would kill us...more importantly it would kill Patti, in turn killing me. I am trying to have enough inventory to let everyone partcipate. The issue we had the last time was only on the final small batch of INFI's. The main (first)allotment took better than 2 days to deplete. It has been recommended that I raise the prices to control the demand on inventory but there is no way in HELL that I will ever do something that bonehead. That would be as stupid as someone telling me to take out some of the performance qualities so not everyone wants one. I refuse to change the principles that ScrapYard was founded on = Top performance at the smallest possible price. Dan

BLD522 for what it's worth I agree a three (user, spare and safe queen or gift..) knife limit for the first 72 hours of the DF is the right way to go, to make sure these 'user' knives get to go straight to 'users' before the scalpers do there thing...
I don't mind people buying ten DF's and selling the spares making a few bucks.. but let everyone get a shot at a factory purchase first.
Someone said about being able to place orders for knives to be made 'whenever' so that technicaly all yard knives are always available new- eventually... Nice idea that! It would stop absolutely evil blighters fleecing the market on desirable models.. nightmare to run the order book though.
EASY ANSWER-
Dan makes lots of DF's!! Keep them in production along with the S6. Problem solved.
