I had no idea Scrap Yard was over here until Guyon dragged me in here by posting my photos here and causing my PM box over on Blade Forums to fill up.
Now that I know about it I'm going "need" about 35-40 of of these big choppers.

And Guyon... with me and two cats in the house I find that I need at least 9,500 SQ FT in the city to get any peace. The summer home is smaller because I can let the cats out since they can't cross the property and make it to public road without water. Also unlike dogs, they won't jump into the pool and SPA and gross out the swim suit models and try and hump them before I do.

I'm not a .50 fan I like the 6BR, very accurate with no political issues.

I look forward to a ring picture with 35 Dog Fathers. I think they would make a much more effective orange juicer than the GWs. However, you're going to have to clear off the whiskey on your buffet to get a pic of that many DFs.

Glad you're getting some HOG notoriety finally. In retrospect, however, I would have preferred sharing your pics of the swim suit models in said spa. Would you mind posting a couple, please?

The .50 is only useful for hunting deer at 1000 to 1200 yards. If you need to shoot one in the next county, then you've found your rifle. I'm just an old fogey who likes the '06.

So first come first served is unfair? I'm interested to hear the reasoning.

only if there is enough for everybody to begin with. use the walmart example posted above. it does NOT work if you have a limited quantity. look at the PS3. it had a limit of 1 per person when it came out. that's because people couldn't stand the $2000 PS3's on ebay yet we do nothing about it on the forums. special items like the extravaganza items should have a limit of 1 or 2 so the MOST people can get the goods. or how about a 1 or 2 knife per person limit so you have to pick and choose what you really want. instead the first 10% get 99% of the items, HOW is this fair?????

on the other hand, the recent FBM was for sale for months. if you missed the boat then that's your fault or your misfortune. similarly if you wanted to buy 50 FBM LE's then so be it. but at least it was offered for a reasonable amount of time. I had the choice to buy or not to buy. the same can't be said about the GW...

i'm not usually vocal but i've been around the block a few times and have been screwed out of many a knife simply because i cannot afford or do not WANT to afford the secondary market prices. and the blame goes to everyone as far as i'm concerned. the system has to be fair and the people have to be fair. is that too much to ask? maybe the knife community isn't as "good" as i once thought. seems like money really DOES turn a good man into a demon...

How is the playing field "unlevel"?
Start at the beginning of this thread and read to the end. Then come on back and we'll talk.

In fact, I did. And the only thing that you imply Scrap Yard does that is unfair is when you accuse Scrap Yard of giving advantage to those who buy in large batches:

Promoting a large and loyal customer base is just as important, if not more important, than dumping your products to the guy with the fattest wallet.

My response is simply that you are attacking the wrong culprit. If you don't want people to buy 20 knives and to give you a fair chance, how about asking the people who are buying that many knives? They are the ones doing it.

The plan that several of you have proposed may certainly help things, but if Scrap Yard does this they are going above and beyond IMO as it's not their problem to correct.

The problem isn't really a matter of resellers versus individual consumers. It's a matter of developing a sales strategy and a pricing structure that supports both. That's called "managing the market".

I'm going to echo Porkerson on this point. If these knives were priced higher (probably double), that would solve everyone's problem. Supply and demand would balance out then.

I totally agree with this. The obvious profiteering is disheartening. Though, I do have to admit that if I have a knife that somebody wants bad enough, they will likely get it.

I've fallen in love with what is now a $1500 knife and I'd just hope to turn it into a user. I just don't view that as Busse's fault...

Here is my opinion:

The secondary market is what makes this distribution system work without dealers that would buy ALL THE KNIVES and mark them up before ANY of us could buy them. The reason the secondary market is necessary is that it makes it a no brainer to buy a knife that you can not see before you buy, because you know that you can get rid of it if you don’t like it. If you limit the sales to just one knife per person so the market is satisfied then you just might kill the secondary market and then the distribution system no longer works. Like it or not that is how it seems to work. And since all the Busse related companies seem successful I wouldn’t expect anything to change. It is a great way to do business because they carry nearly no inventory.

And in some respects a guy that hordes knives helps that system work.

Also as you can see right now with Wardens that the guys that bought tons of Orange & Muddy Wardens and are now trying to make a buck have caused the secondary market to weaken a little. So if I miss out on a knife I HOPE some guys have bought 12 of them so I can get one when they realize that owing $2,700 worth of Tiger Wardens is actually kind of stupid. If everyone just was able to buy just one or two I’d never get one if I missed because I was out of town or something.

Also you’ll see that only “new guys” tend to buy a ton of knives and then sell. After a while they realize that unless you are willing to be on the hook for $50,000 worth of Busse knives you can not keep buying at that pace, and if you have all your cash tied up then you are going to miss knives you want because you are out of money or outside your accepted risk.

So I’d think long and hard before I wished for any changes.

Busse almost screwed me out of my FBM-LE because i did not have the money? WTH?
we need some focus on whom blame lays..

Some people whine that the $40 KaBar is priced restrictively- Is that KaBar's fault, or the poor saps's who can't reduce his obsession (for X purchase) below his ability put two coins together for said item.

-TonyG +1

I also notice now, that the price of a warden shipped to your door, is about the same from secondary market as it would be from the store, if purchased individually-

I would like to see a limit for the first little while but I am afraid it would be
to hard for Dan to do practicaly. It is hard enough just selling the things without crashing everything because of 2000 orders in 6 minutes. Alot of the concern on this thread is Dogfather anxiety, once you loyal dogs get your bowies you will be happy to see the knife you paid 150$ for is worth 200$. It is not like Dan will run out of S7 like he did INFI. The SS4 I bought seems even more special because it was limited. Also it made it easier to buy what is for me an expensive knife knowing I could get my money back if I did not want it.

while this was going on...
I pulled an Okudin Sheath that was for my M6, heated the spine and lips a little, and shoved in my S6. Voila! a perfect fit. Now my Scrapper6 has a Kydex home on my hip, Olive Drab no less.

Gosh i love knives... now to go outside and chop in the rain!
