I still have four of them. All I need is the LE. The S6 is the best all-around fixed blade knife I know of. Makes me wonder why I bought a BATAC and M6. The Scrapper 6 is a real survival knife. And a bargain at the price. Vic, if you're looking to pawn off that BATAC, it's about the only Busse that I want. Great! PM me. I prefer the Ratmandu.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

D Yeah, Dave. I just can't see me ever using it with so many other options. I really do prefer the Ratmandu.

I really couldnt think of a decent reason to watch the tests
I find almost no value in them, other than the amusement of it all
I refuse to endorse such behavior
but if dan digs it then I am ok with it I guess You're not the only who feels that way, Dave. In fact, there are those who don't even find the tests amusing. And some of them, including Mike Stewart, are knifemakers I respect. (You can check out Mike's comments here if you're interested: Video Knife Tests.) I certainly understand Dan's elation with respect to the "tests". After all, noss awarded the Scrapper 6 the highest survival rating he's ever given to a knife. While there are many who feel this way I'm not one. I tend to read a bit deeper into whats being done rather than how it's done. My franklin Dictionary says the following about "Test" 1) A critical examination or evaluation: Trail 2) A means or result of testing I would have to say that what Noss does certainly fits with in the definition of "Test". Unfortunally there are those who believe that in order for a "test" to be valid or of any value it must be structured, done with calibrated test equipment under strictily controlled conditions. While there is a place for this type of testing it's also good to do "Real world testing". Sure Noss goes over the top and does thigs to a knife that 99.9% of the users would not do. And yes what he does is considered gross abuse however, the bottom line is he shows you the limit of the tool. There are also some people who can't get past the mask. How can we possibly take him seriously after all he wears a mask. Well, who cares get over it.....personaly I think of it as nothing more than a safety mask.

Do you need one, of course you do it's a knife and you like knives.....

BLD...yea Mike tends to hold back on what he thinks now doesn't he?? lol
Ahh when legends speak
anywho
Bors that isnt what i was referring to..you can make a legit knife test, with lots of relevant stuff, butt naked in the woods with JUST the knife if ya wanna go out and get down like that...IF you are doing what a knife is normally expected to do..Cutting stuff that needs cutting and maybe some light prying..
hmm...really wanna test a knife?? send it to me to use as a thrower..I will tell ya within a week or 2 if the knife is tuff or not!!!
2 BK7's have fallen before me
Feel me?

I was looking at his test on the Fallkniven which a lot of people hype about but Dan's knives still out perform on the vice and using it as a pry bar. No matter how much he chips and damages the edge, you can still resharpen it with some grinding. It may not be straight but still cuts none the less. I love the failure analysis stuff, reminds me of some of the things we did at work. Ans as usual, Dans steel comes out on top, Great job as usual Dan.
Everything is possible and failure is not an option.

I figured the mask as mainly a safety thing; if you have a catastrophic blade failure under bending- that could fire off shards and take an eye out...
I think there is a bit of value to the vids Noss(?) posts, while I know knives are cutting tools and "are the most expensive, least effective pry bar you will ever buy" (to paraphrase CRKT loosely) if you are stuck in and overturned Jeep or Landie it'd be good to know you picked a S6 as your utility knife!
I take it Mike (who seems to hate Noss's stuff) is the man behind Bark River? No libel intended if I am wrong!! A Bravo 1 with antique ivory micarta looks sooooo good! Sharp art..

The Bravo 1 looks a near perfect 'Ray Mears' style bushcraft knife without the official 'Ray Mears' knife's £400 price tag.. (Ray is like a hippie Bear Grylls, but doesn't use hotel rooms! Ray teaches extreme environment survival skills to our forces in-between TV shows)
