i think he is awesome....

he spends his money on knives & then tries to destroy them...

w/ tests that have no value on how a knife would perform under normal cicumstances

so basically

IMHO

his test are st00pid

yeah, he actually tells us on his forum that he only does it to blow off steam

but he does do outdoor tests showing how they preform in basic stuff like chopping, making fuzzie sticks, notching etc.
you can find them on his site, here's one for example
the rtak 2 outdoor test

Those knife tests have great entertainment value and he and the cameraman are having a blast. Is it scientific or official? No, but I don't think he is trying to sell you a knife just showing you a few ways to see if a knife will fail. I liked him whacking the Scrapyard with a hammer while it was in the vice. Someone could make a loop of that and use it as his avatar!

I liked the test. I knew that my scrappers were tough but I had no idea they could be batoned through a huge steel bar <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

I would have preferred seeing it done with a Hooker though because everyone already loves the S6 and the hooker is just as good it just needs a little good press. I think Noss should send the pieces in to Dan for a new knife(whatever is in stock).
I am positive that the video was enough good press for the Yard that it would more than pay for the knife and it is not like there would be a bunch of people destroying their knives. Dan's warranty covering that would be a 7th sword for an unbeatable rating.

The HookGuard is better than the CampTramp. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The S6 is the best all-around fixed blade knife I know of.
Second-best, Vic. First best is the Swamp Rat Camp Tramp. But the S6 is a very close second. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I’ve owned both, and I agree, I like the CT better.

I prefer the Desert Jack.......Ohhh Yeah....I got one in the mail today!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a chance to buy one at a very good price (way below market value) and I passed for a RMD.

OK, the new S7 then. I hope. Since I've never used a camp tramp, I don't really know about it. I know the S6 carries light, chops, slices, has a nice fine point, is indestructable and has perfect balance. It does every thing I could ask of 6" knife.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

just read the entire thread... and watching vids down to #6 currently.

Note, when this guy first got started, I bought a CS Bushman after watching his tests... but did not ditch any blades I had based on anything I saw...

I decided to continue my Scrapper love regardless of the test results, as my use of the blade was so positive... that being said, I loved what i saw of the S6... and have no plans on selling the one S6 I have =)

at part seven.. when he got it hammering through the rolled steel and its sinking in... I am grinning like a perv. in a school yard, and begin laughing and when he pulls it out and he begins to chuckle at the blades toughness... I just busted up laughing out loud... WOW.... this is sick...

I finally got to finish watching the vids - pretty amazing. I didn't realize that he was able to break it - but that wasn't until it'd gone way beyond what the other knives he's destroyed have done - through all of his "normal" testing, if you will. I'm w/ Iron balls on being just beside myself when he was pounding through those steel bars!

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the methods used, you can't possibly argue that the S6 isn't a tough SOB. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
