This was my old, reliable combo. It weighed 19 oz total. But some of thick areas required a little machete work to get through, so I got a bigger knife. This CS MTC Kukri served me well, along with my trusty Bucklite and SAK Recruit. This combo weighed 23 oz. But a guy traded me out of that Kukri (I have it back now), so I got this 12" machete, now up to 24 oz total. The machete was replaced with this Ontario Survival Bowie. Now up to 26 oz. But could carry this lightweight 18" Tramontina, my SS4, and an SAK and still travel light and cut anything in my path. Or this combo might work. I already know the Ratweiler can slash through undergrowth like a machete. Here is a tough light combo that can do anything. This one is a little heavier, but not too much to carry. Think I might go with this one or the Ratwieler. Got to upgrade, you know.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

nice combos vic. is the bucklite basically the 110 with synthetic handles? i remember having some of the boy scout versions of the buck lite growing up.
which sak is the bottom black one?
my current combo(i have no swamp to carry a combo into) would be S6, ss4, and 110.

Having options is a great thing, nice pics. A OHT is a fine compliment to a machete, chopper or any "bigger" knife. I like that S6/OHT combo.

Great pics Vic! I can never make myself take just 2 or 3 blades...
I think that new Ratweiler will make a good choice, maybe with the SS4 for the fine work.

my current combo(i have no swamp to carry a combo into) would be S6, ss4, and 110. The Bucklite was my all-time favorite lockback. I have even done minor surgery with it. This one has the exact same blade as the 110. I carved the finger grooves in the handle and added the opening stud. I had a smaller green one earlier, but lost it. The black SAK is the One Hand Opening Trekker. It's an upgrade from my trusty Recruit. The OHT has replaced both the Buck and the Recruit. Like having a locking big folder with tools on it. It's great.

i love how the sak remains constant. if you only had one knife, the oht does it all. not as much fun as a 10" bowie, though.
got mine right here in my jacket.

I was a boy scout, magnum. I never go anywhere without a SAK! All my cronies have chickened out on going with me back to the Altamha swamps. Too many close calls and scary memories, I guess. I'm going to try to do it myself this week. Time to gear up. I'm healed up enough and the weather is perfect. I have a healthy respect for that swamp, but I do not fear it.

swamps here in nj are disappearing. a couple years ago edgewater wasn't the expensive ritzy luxury carlot it is right now. it all happened so quick, too. condos are all really high dollar and the theaters pioneered the high prices now standard in my area.
all from a worthless (economically speaking) swamp.

I would go with the Tramontonia ,RMD and a SwampWarden or INFI skelly if you hasve one. My gear for similar adventures is a bit different because of the different vegetation. An excellent and totally budget set up is my CS Trail Hawk and a Mora. I can get by fine with nothing but my HookGuard. It will also work great for clearing shooting lanes if I decide to hunt with my new bow. The Bear knife and one of those cool little Condors would be a nice combo for HornDog. The double edged Condor is small enough to carry in a small pack and still big enough for serious brush clearing and can cut on both strokes. I am working on a winter truck kit. The CS Shovel is a no-brainer The Fenix L2P and the Spy sunglasses shown here are also must haves. Sunglasses may seem strange as a priority but with all the snow the light is blinding in bright sunlight. The choice of a knife for the truck is very tricky. It has to be quite good as we will be using it often but not so good or cool that I keep taking it out of the truck. The lets out the SS4 and the stainless mora. I am considering my YKLE or maybe even the Muttly which hopefully will be here today. Other possibilities are the Buck 119 or one of my Carbon Moras. Other winter basics include a tool kit ,jumper cables and a towstrap.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Magnum. As much as I cuss the government, Georgia has set aside the Atahmaha as a Wildlfife Management Area and bought up most of the swamps. We need to preserve some of the wild areas. There are many places here that I once hunted that are now housing developments and even a mall is in one of them. If I sound like a tree-hugger, maybe I am a little bit. I should at least stop sticking my knives and tomahawks in them, I guess.

I agree. We need to save as much of our wild land as possible, or there won't be any left.
