okay, so i'm thinking of getting one of these, but i'm not sure wich one. i know some of you have at least one of these so i thought it would be a good place to ask.
so how do they compare as far as prying, chopping (wood and other hardcore stuff like concrete) and overall use. anything you have to say about them would help, thanks.

Not sure about comparing them, but I do know that Justin is modifying the Ranger Entry Tool and he said the newer version would be ready by Spring of next year. I have been contemplating a Ranger ETool for quite some time.

I'm not really gonna help because I have neither but from the people that have em they say Justin's entry tool rocks and he will make it any way you want, so I'd go with that.

The ATC VTAC is one of my favorite tools. It also makes an outstanding weapon, which isn't an obvious weapon. I use it camping, as well as around the house. I once used it to remove a wall in my garage. It is good enough, that I will pick up a second and third, evenually, for all of my vehicles. Right now, mine lives in my Jeep. It is the one thing that goes wherever I do. I rotate knives, but the tomahawk is a constant. Plus, it looks cool. It looks like an updated Nam hawk. And, it is very quick in the hand.

yeah, idk. i can possibly get both. wich would be cool. i'm not going to do serious wood chopping with it, more like wood, concrete and any other random crap i feel like destroying. so i don't mind the obstuse angles. i was originally gonna get an rd hawk or renagade and an atc or entry tool. the modern hard use entry tool style hawk, and the more camping style one. but the entry tool and atc would be awesome. and than (i know i'm dreaming) a crash axe.

hey bud,
i got both.i love both.i cant compare though because they're not in the same catagory.
the atc vtac might be my favorite edged weapon, and thats what i consider it...a weapon.thats because it is so light and nimble in the hand.i dont know what the idea was behind the designing of it but it turned out to be a kick @$$ hand held edged weapon imo.as far as wood chopping or camp chores...well it just doesnt seem to be designed for that.
i did some wood chopping with it and wasnt impressed but like i said that wasnt its intended use.awesome weapon and "emergecy" tool if need be.tough as hell.
the entry tool also kicks @$$.first of all i didnt find the cord wrapped handle comfortable so i sent it in to justin and had him put micarta slabs on it and now i am in love with it and cant put it down.
it is indestructable and feels great {with the micarta slabs}.as advertised on justins site it was sorta designed for military, fire fighter, entry use...hence the name "ENTRY TOOL".
i havnt tryed it on wood or done camping chores with it cause it just isnt designed for that.if i ever have to chop an escape hole in a concrete wall or anything else for that matter the entry tool is what i would choose.
as far as wood chopping or camping is concerned i would go with the rd-hawk.i put a nice high grind, sharp edge on mine and it chopps awesome and is a handy size.
any more questions just hollar

thanks northern1. yeah the entry tool and vtac have very obtuse angle to chop various tough materials. so the the vtac feels very light and fast in the hand, and the entry tool can destroy the crap out of stuff. and their both really tough. sounds like a good combination. =] as far as comfort, knives, i could care less how comfortably they are, i only care about comfort with axes. so i like the cord wrapped handle. but its good to know i can get micarta handles on it if i need to.
