First off,Hello to all.Some of you may know me from KF,BF,GD...anyhow i want to pick up a couple of busse kin knives but am unsure how to go about it.Im looking for Scraps and Rats...but cant seem to find where to purchase them.Do I do so on their sites or must i wait and fish them out of swap forums,at twice the price?Some must be coming directly from the company stores.Where are they.All I seem to find are t-shirts and such..couple knives but not what Im looking for.I want to get a SR M6 and a SY scrapper6 or dumpster mutt any thoughts.Thanx for any help you can provide. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

First, Welcome to "The Yard!"

Scrapyard knives are usually sold in "releases." They sell out so fast that Dan Busse (owner) can't keep a constant stock in his "store," so you've gotta be on the ball to get them!

What usually happens, is Dan will announce a new knife here on the forum - he'll have pictures and descriptions, etc. Sometime after that, he'll announce a 48 and a 24 hour notice, including the price, and release time (usually an hour window) of the next knife. The evening of the Release, Dan will usually shut down the website for "maintenance" and reopen it with the new knife available in the order section, or he will announce a "go" thread, at which time you'll place your order.

The Scrapper6 will be a knife that should be made again. The original Dumpster Mutt was a one time run - but has returned in a few other configurations - a satin finish LE model, a full height grind coated "urban mutt" model, etc.

The best thing to do would be for you to stick around the forum for a while, as I'm sure Dan has something in the works to release in the not so distant future.

I'm not too up to date on Swamp Rat knives - I only have one - but you'll almost always get word here at the Scrapyard Forum about Swamp Rat releases as well.

Thanx bro..thats pretty much what I thought was the situation.Im in no rush,just greedy for more steel..as I bet everyone here is!!!Im trying to focus my collection a bit more these days..more on 5"-6" blades from a list of makers as opposed to focusing on collecting everything from one maker at a time.SY and SR are not represented at all in my collection so I figure they are at the top of this new list..seeing how good their respective reputations are.SR,SY,Ferhman, Fallkniven, Busse,Chris Reeve,Bark River, Ranger, Strider, Mission, Becker, SOG,Ontario Rat....once I got one from everyone Ill double back.Kinda ambitious but hey gotta have goals.Thanx again man Ill stick around for a while I think.

It's already been stated that the knives com eout in batches and are difficult to obtain unless you hang around the forums and keep up to date with the releases. SO why don't you pull up a stool and stay a while.

Welcome to the Yard, Scytale. The 5" to 6" blade knives are favorites, and both SY and SR have some nice ones. The Scrapper 6 is my personal favorite in that size. The M6 is nice too, but the S6 is lighter and has better balance. In the 5" size, the Swamp Rat Ratmandu is very nice, as is the SY Urban Mutt, which has only been released at some shows. I am hoping for another Urban Mutt release and another batch of Scrapper 6s soon.
