I just blew some money on a Seiko 'black monster'. I have read tons about it online recently, and decided to take the plunge.
It is an automatic dive watch. Stainless case and band, black face.
It will be a birthday present from me to myself. My family is going to California during that time, so I need to have something to open that day.
Leaving me alone, with the dogs.
Wait...
This'll be the best birthday ever! [Linked Image from img524.imageshack.us]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I actually do not especially like watches, but, since you do... cool! I'm glad you got one you like.

I'm more of a Casio G-shock guy, but the dial on that does look great.

very nice watch. my only issue with automatics is i don't wear the same watch every day and don't want to pay for a perpetual motion box to store the watch.

i want to get one of those sunnoco gps watches.

The rolex oysters are cool. But, for 950 less, I'll seiko it for now. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I always liked the rolex submariner, since reading the survivalist series.

I like the idea of the automatic feature, in case I am lucky enough to be around when the end comes, and there be no more watch battery stores.

I have a solar casio g-shock, but the damned thing just does not tell the right time. I threw it out on the lawn about 3 days ago. Literally. I'll check on it in a few days, to see if it learned it's lesson.
Hope it likes those leaves and the rain.

My idea of a watch is a Timex. That Seiko is nice, though. Would Odin wear a Rolex?

I like Casio Waveceptors, but mine may have died last week. It stopped working and the battery indicator says it's out of juice. It's solar powered, so I've been leaving it out to charge, but the days have been very overcast of late, so I'm not sure if it's just not getting enough light, or if my battery needs to be replaced, or if it's worse than that.

When I got it, the technology was fairly new, and the model I bought was only available in Japan (gotta love that whole Internet thing) -- I paid nearly $400 for it, but could get a newer model with similar (if not better) features for less than half that now. Still, I've got history with it and hope it'll either recharge or be fixable. It synchronizes with the Ft Collins atomic clock every night, so I always know my time's correct, and it's nice to have a watch that automatically adjusts for daylight savings time.
