Since none of the Busse companies produce a folder at present, I tried out a few Spydercos recently. I have their Spyderfly balising but these are the first traditional folders I've purchased from Spyderco. They are the Native III, the Manix and the Mini-Manix all with plain edges. The Manix and Mini-Manix are being dropped from the Spyderco line in 2008 so I wanted to get them while I could. All three came extremely sharp and have seen some kitchen duty. They are tomato slicing fools.

I did not realize the Manix was being dropped. May have to snag one then. I have carried Spyderco's for 10+ years now. My favorite is the Endura, my oldest one is beat to heck and looks like crap, but still my favorite folder.

unless dan releases a scrapper lockback, i'm gonna be pissed if i don't get one.

holy sugar, a scrapper lockback....that would rock so hard. they should just call it that, too.

I read on the Spyderco Forum, over on Blade, the Manix and Mini-Manix were being dropped. When I ordered my Manix, the guy at Cutlery Shoppe confirmed that both models were being dropped. He also said Spyderco was out of Manixs so I guess what is on the shelves is all tere will be. There is a whole list of knives being purged on Blade. There is a rumor afloat that there may be a Manix II but I don't know if their is any truth to it.

Imho, the Mini Manix is probably the best looking Spyderco out there. I sure hope they replace it with something better.

There will be a Manix 2 and it will probably be better than the original but it is probably a good idea to grab one anyway. I have a Chinook3 which is very similar and I love the lock up on the back lock. The Chinook3 is used for back cuts so you know it needs a strong lock.

If you want a huge knife that disappears in your pocket there is nothing better than a SS Police. I got a brand new one for less than 100$ on BF.

They are so slim they literally disappear. The only problem is the finish gets scratched but I am going to try the 3M wheel.

I like the grip on the Mini-Manix better than that on the Manix. It's very comfortable.

That chinook is growing on me. I have the original; built like a tank, heavy as one, too.
The newer looks a lot lighter, and quicker.

My first and only Spyderco is the Endura in VG-10. This is one sharp, light knife. I'm impressed.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Boy I'm glad I got a Manix when I did. I really like it. I bet they do come out with an improved version and then we'll all want that one too...
