Gravelface, What do you do with a flash light other than to provide light in the dark? oooooh! i knew he would say that! Like mike biz said.. i'm not a flashaholic either.. but i'm sure over at CandlePowerForums.. that's prolly the equivalent of saying "waddya do wit knives? just cut with 'em?" I've only been to the CPF forum a few times.. but boy those folks are hardcore!.. bulb life, lumens, reflector vs lens, LED mods, Hrs vs brightness vs beam throw.. it's mind boggling! TKC can prolly pitch in some more informed suggestions..

I too have been searching for a better EDC light.. but my search was waylaid by SR-101, SR-77, & Infi. I've ditched MagLite 2xAA bulb types long ago.. the bulbs burn out/break way too fast.. not enough light for the weight/size carried. SureFires, arguably among the best money can buy.. but the specialty Lithium batts are kinda out of my league for what i wanna do. So I'm on the Hunt for a good LED, small, pocket carry, long batt life w/ normal AA or AAA. In the meantime i'm packing a humble lil Dorcy 1AAA LED (~$7.99 @ Walmart) http://www.dorcy.com/products.aspx?p=414234I wouldn't go hunting Zombies with it on a moonless night! but this one's so small it's with me Everywhere for EDC.. and a single AAA battery lasts Months with this LED.

I recently bought a twin-pack of lights at Sam's Club; they are 3-watt Luxeon L.E.D. lights using three AAA batteries each. I prefer the availability and price of the AAA's over the CR-123's, though the CR-123's are supposed to burn better/last longer, etc. The lights are rated at 80 lumens, and seem very bright to me. I also have a couple of old MagLite rechargable lights, as well as a LOT of other lights with bulbs or L.E.D.'s. That's not counting the small Photon-type lights I bought from County Comm.com. Tony - I haven't tried rechargables yet as I don't have any, but I DO have quite a few alkaline batteries. I am always on the lookout for battery deals! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

TKC, does SureFire make any AA/AAA-powered LED flashlights? or are they all Lithium powered?
