Speaking of pie: Is it my imagination, or is "cheesecake" really a pie, and not a cake? It sure seems more like a cheese pie than a cheese cake to me.

totally a pie. but, not exactly a pie. more like a torte than anything, I guess. also my least favorite dessert on earth.

Of course, there are many other fine desserts in the world, but there are also many others unworthy of the honorable title, "dessert".

For example, I'd waaaay rather have a cheesecake than some meringue pie.

I eat cheesecake about once a year. can't do it more than that, because my big sister uses me as a guinea pig for some of her recipes, and I've eaten my weight in cheesecake many times over in the last 15 years or so. now when she asks I tell her I have a cold or something. I used to cook them for dates a lot, too, which they love, but it gets old. my favorite is to substitute a few Tbs of kahluha for one of the eggs, gives it a nice flavor.

I'm trying to think of some other unworthy "desserts", or actually, there are a few that I can think of, but don't know the name for.

you can get much better flavors from certain liquors than you can from other substances when you're cooking. bailey's is also good in cheesecake, and tequila is good in bread, but you have to use a lot of it, so it's too expensive to do often.

see Mike that's how he gets more dates, he gets em drunk, and when they awake, takes them home the next day and calls it a second date!

What do you think of meringue?

lately my deserts have been poptarts, I think that qualifies!

I hate divinity, and I'm not big on fudge or brownies. I prefer really moist cakes, pies, mousses, tiramisu, stuff like that; or else just fresh fruit with cream.
