The instrument thread got me thinking that alot of the same people who like knives like bikes. I ride a 02 Honda 919 streetfighter style motorbike. A streetfighter is a bike with one of the honkin engines from a sportbike but no stupid plastic or bum in the air seat. I also have a 74 Honda CB350 that is in the proccess of becoming a cafe racer. When I am done that and my musclecar project I hope to do a hardtail kick only shovelhead chopper.
Show us your bikes I will post some pics when I figure out how to "paste".

Those are real cool, but you'll work on it more than you ride it. Shovels dont hold together and neither did the pan heads

I do not have a motorcycle license for here in MA. I did have a learners permit when I lived in South Dakota. I have a 2001 H-D FXDX. (That is a Dyna Super Glide Sport.).

Unsub, nice ride bro..
I rode a friend's CBR954RR.. man.. smooth as a sewing machine. That's too much bike for me though.
Magnum22, I too am having Serious thoughts about the SV650!
FWIW.. i heard the Calif Highway Patrol are ditching their BMWs. iirc.. too much maintenance.. dunno what they're going to next though..

i know man, it comes with abs now too. it could be your only bike, i'd be perfectly happy with it, but it would still serve as a worthy user that stands beside whatever your 'enthusiast' bike is. not sure what that would be in my garage but it's probably one of those muscle bikes everyone came out with a couple years back: mean streak, warrior, vrod.....vrod. and did you see the new 1200N?! awesome!
a moment of silence for the vulcan 750.

I don't like ABS ,the brakes on my honda are nothing fancy but unbelivably good. I would kill for a 954 engine for my bike ,it would bolt right in and has all the best raceparts. The SV650 is an awesome bike ,I got my 919 as a new last years model(in 03) and it cost the same as a new SV but with more goodies. The 919 is such a reliable bike that I would be OK with a old shovelhead as a project and barbike. My grandparents love my honda because it is so quiet. It screams when you rev it but by that time you are doing a 100MPH. I was checking out the new KTM 950 superenduro which is like if my bike had dirt tires. It would be perfect for bombing all the dirt roads in saskatchawan. I would love a smaller supermoto like the SuzukiDRZ400 or the tres cool Aprilla SXV 4.5 and even seriously checked out the SXV at a dealer but a 13 000$ canadian dirtbike was to much.

I ride a Honda VTR1000 Superhawk (V-twin). I have been riding for about 18 years. I love the speed and handling. I am about 6'2" and some of the sport-bikes (repli-racers) are just a little too tight or bent over for me. The VTR has a nice balance with just enough lean for good handling and just enough upright for comfort. I purchased my bike used and have had ZERO issues. It has been a great bike. You can usually save $2000 - $4000 by purchasing a 2-3 year old bike. There are many out there with very low miles. Usually, it is reasonably easy to tell how well a bike has been maintained by just looking over the bike.
I have heard and read MANY great reviews about the SV650. I prefer the SV650S. I like the silver. I have not personally ridden one, but I have read so many great things that I have recommended the bike to others who are just getting into riding. It is plenty of good bike. I am partial to V-twin sport-bikes.
I don't have anti-lock brakes. I have never had them and I have never had a problem locking up my brakes. Even if and when I do lock up my rear wheel, it is an instant and easy fix. Too me, one of the great aspects of riding a motorcycle is being in tune to the machine. If the bike is a quality bike, tuned properly and with good quality tires (grip and traction is HIGH on my list), I would think an anti-lock system could be annoying (???) and likely a waste of money. I don't want to say not to get anti-lock. It is great for cars. I just don't think I would want it. Motorcycles are not the same as cars. Most decent sport-bikes have excellent brakes.

Those V twin superhawks are real sleepers. I can't belive how some people find the way everything works perfectly on a Honda "Boring".
