I really feel LSD (low self discharge) batteries like eneloops and their clones will finally end alkaline for good. The problem before was you had to charge them first and people didn't like that, and re-chargeables had to recharge often/high maintanence, which people didn't like; now LSDs solved that and you'll save tons of money. Just pop em in and your done. Also LSDs don't leak!
