DFLE, original edge.
$50 that his grip shifted and he wasn't hitting square. That dent looks like he really hit off center.

One of the Goddard Original Hunters.
Photo #4 from Ted's link shows what really appears to be the original satin finish & the edge looks identical to a normal factory edge from the yard.
The first photo shows how the steel really deformed to the side from a horizontal force and no deformation backwards from a normal vertical force.
Dan will still cover that under warranty though. This place rocks that way.

Do you really think something like sr-77 would deform that much under human force? I have seen cheap unheat treated 420 stainless blades deform like that but I wouldn't think sr-77 with the Busse heat treat deform that much.

I wouldn't say his was being sloppy. All it would take is the knife shifting in his grip ever so slightly. If he had gloves on that could compound the issue. Not even saying that is what occurred, just playing devil's advocate.

I don't think that would happen. it might have been a defect. I don't think there is any way.

Recommended only to those requiring exceptional grasping power for martial arts, climbing, or weapon retention. Not recommended for the average man’s hand I wonder if this is their best seller? That's kinda like putting Small, Normal, Extra Large on the prophylactic packaging, which one are you gonna buy? LOL
