GF - I certainly appreciate your slow spelling for me! However, we have several feed and seed stores around here, and they don't sell much in the way of leather. However, the Tandy store in Springfield does!

Go easy on your momma! The only kind of animals that would feed on leather, that I know of, are leather sewers. Moo!

You can pick up sheets or leather from the one by my place.

Hmm…I’ve never heard of a feed store selling leather. Why would a feedstore sell leather?

The saddle stitch is not that hard. Try a Tandy leather working book. All the basics. My problem is breaking needles.

Well, I have the info, I just haven’t set down and tried it yet. I posted some good links of how-to, along with some other sheathmaking info at Rat Chat: Leather Sheathmaking Question

I was planning on using a drill or punch to make the holes, to make it a little easier sewing-wise.

We have one of those in Indy, but I’ve never been there. Once I try my Shaker sheath, if it turns out well, I might have to make a trip and get some stuff. I haven’t looked yet, but thought I might get cheaper leather on eBay. I find about everything else there cheaper.

Thanks. I have the pieces all cut out, I just need to punch and sew 'em. It probably won't take that long to do, I've just been putting it off. It's been like 4 months since I started on it...guess I better finish it soon.

I think I'm going to try one myself, and plan on using a tiny drill bit for the holes in the leather. I'm shooting for "plain but functional" for my first attempt.
