Hey guys, I'm back.
Havent been on for the past month because of slow internet.
Will be going to the gun show in downtown Columbus to chat with hammy and handle some knives. I will be posting lots of use pictures from the past month. I just picked up a CE Hell Razor and will be posting pictures of it.

and yes, i was thinking that. northstar, lil nessy, or psk. i like the snowy river too, but if it's scandi inspired it better have a true scandi grind and i don't know if it does. mag: yeah wierd... I did ??? mag: I think it was cause I had written something else in between at first, so I didn't really notice... then I erased what I had written. mag: sorry about that... it'll never happen again. ... mag.

there it was. sent.
3V...can't wait to face this one off against the sar5, dmutts, and m2k.
i had this worn out store receipt in my wallet. i took it out, held it horizontally from one corner, and started cutting near horizontal at the other. the m2k doesn't even move the paper, it push cuts easy. the long hunter, which was extremely sharp but i thinned it anyway, still requires a draw to cut. nothin else even comes close to these two.
i'm hopin the bushmaster can compare. Magnum22 did you order the standard or deluxe model? I orderd the standard in 3V. I have one of his bushcrafters in a scandi ground 3V that might be the sharpest knife I own right now.

What are these 3V knives you speak of?
Are they the Kosters? Those are some nice well thought out knives.
I am liking razor thin knives that are so sharp the they can slice an arm hair lengthwise. I don't care if they have no lateral strength but they must CUT.
My Mule is one of the sharpest Knives I have ever seen. I wish Bussekin knives were this thin. It is less than half the thickness of a Swarden and has a very wide full height bevel so it is amazingly sharp and the 52100 steel holds a wicked edge. Still if the Yard did make a thin sharp knife someone would sure as heck snap the tip off the first day

lol I'm sure you meant no offense to vic. But I can see some of the busse kind crew snapping it and basically saying "see, it old you it isn't tough" or something... as if we didn't know.
(basically the opposite of what vic did)

Yes we were talking about the Kosters. I have a Mule as well and you are right Unsub, it is sharp and a just a neat knife, except for the little staining/patina thing.

52100 does rust if you look at it with a tear in your eye.
It makes a fantastic neck knife though because it is so thin and light but quite big. I had 4 Mule sheaths made so when the Mule2 comes out in an exotic stainless I can EDC it right away. I have a spare Mule with sheath all boxed up waiting for the moment I need a really good trading fodder. I don't mind the 2 knife limit but I am really glad it is not 1 knife. This way I get 1 to use and one to make a mint matched set or trades. I just wish Mule 2 would hurry up.
I guess 52100 was so difficult for Spyderco to use they changed the bushcraft knife steel to O1 which is disappointing. A2 would have been better. It says something about the skills the Busse Clan has that not only do they use 52100/SR101 they are the only production company that diff tempers it.

I was lucky at Blade to speak with Sal Glesser of Spyderco. He mentioned that all of these exotic steels they were testing had little quirks that were individual to them alone . He mentioned the 52100 and the quenching process, saying that if the blade were not perfectly vertical when it was quenched that it would warp badly. Also mentioned they have 5 steels in different stages of testing but most likely M4 would be the next. I cant wait.
