Good morning. I've got vacation from Tuesday this week to next Wednesday, so can hang out between naps or checking to see what's on TV. I didn't have anything planned, so I'm just vegetating. I haven't bought any of the "typical" Bark Rivers -- I was attracted to the Forester and Clax mainly because they are unusual. I bought my Foresters on the secondary market because they were discontinued by the time I found out about them; I bought my Claxs from dlttradingcompany.com

He definitely gravitated straight to the SS4 and Crash Rat and lingered around the skinny ash.

I'd really prefer an SS4 but I haven't been able to catch any before they sold and haven't seen very many up so I'm looking for other options. I'm pretty confident that I could get another crash rat but I'm not giving up my only SS4

You give more expensive Christmas presents than I do.
Bark Rivers are very nice, but I don't really understand why they're as quite as expensive as they are. BRKT comes across as a production knife company, not customs, and while their fit and finish is very good, I don't think their blades are made of "super steel", and lots of less expensive production knives have fine fit and finish. I'm not saying they're bad, I just don't understand the price structure.

I think they spend or charge too much on the micarta. The exotic woods are only a hair more expensive than the micarta and that doesn't make any sense to me

my heart almost stopped when I saw that bog dog go up for $175. I was ready to type "I'll take it" until I woke up and saw that it was already gone

I've got my SS4s and don't plan to buy anymore unless I run across one that's simply a great deal, but I don't intend to let any go either. I've spent up to $210 for them on the secondary market, but that one was because I probably overpaid for a leather pocket sheath ($30). I probably could have saved a little by just paying $180 for the knife and picking up a factory sheath somewhere else, but there's a lot to be said for the convenience of getting the sheath and the knife together.
Lots of folks have been selling on the BladeForums Exchange, but SS4s don't come up often. I'll let you know if I see one.

Those RMD handles feel very nice, but you'd pay a ton for that knife. You're far better off settling for the SR101 version and buying a nice rifle with the difference.
